a little sad.....
this past weekend i relocated all my fish to a friends house (he has many giant tanks (280/300/800gal), he is housing them until i get situated after michelle and i relocate.
my 10+ year old silver dollar and his 3 3yr old buddies went into the 800 gallon.....and they are living it up, they scattered when they first went in but soon after found each other and schooled around the tanks full length of 14ft, it was fun to watch and a good place to live out their years with many other non-aggressive fish. then there are the 3 oscars, 2 tigers 1 albino, one of these tigers was my first and i raised him since he was about an inch long. here is the thread when i first got the silver dollar and an early stage of my fish addiction and just before i got my O's. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/167550-lets-see-those-fish-tanks.html?highlight=fish well my pride and joy tiger was doing ok, we had him and the albino in the 280, they were eating which is a good sign after the stress of the hour drive, they were fighting though so my friend stuck in a couple non-aggressive fish to as dithers......when he came home from work today my boy was gone, and the albino was in sulk mode (either from his dead friend or from fighting)...we don't really know the cause, but what can you do. he isolated the albino and hopefully it'll be ok, but my pride and joy is gone. the 2nd tiger went into the 300 and gets along with everyone except another oscar and a pacu.......but he's holding his own so he should be fine. really kinda sucks...sure it's just a fish but o's have personalities..... here are some pics from when he was young til the most recent.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715102.jpg his first kill..... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715126.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715200.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715334.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715392.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715440.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715503.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715572.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715629.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1207715692.jpg rip little buddy |

I feel for you. Right now I have four African Cichlids (two male, two female) and one plecostomus. All of my fish have great fun to be around.

i'm kinda bummed, i had full intentions of getting to florida.....getting the new big tank setup, then driving home to get him and transport him down when i was ready for him, they live 8+ years normally, he was about 4 years old....fed him everyday which he would respond like a puppy pacing back and forth in the tank in anticipation of the food.
the albino is pretty docile but just doesn't have the personality the one which died had, we were planning on finding it a home also...... |
man, the things you learn on PPOT!
you've got alot of passion there Bell, sorry for your loss buddy. |
Any of y'all ever posted over on www.monsterfishkeepers.com ?
BIG tanks and BIG fish with BIG hungers... :) If I get to enclose my back porch into an office this year, the wife has said I can build a big tank to keep natives in... I'm thinking 8x3x3 |

800 gallons? Holy schnikes, tha's some tank!
Oscars are great. Maybe one day I'll get around to setting up a tank (too many other hobbies first though). I'd love to have one like that. Way cool! |
Sorry to hear about the lil' fishy, mate.
