997 flashed me today
I still have yet to be flashed by anyone driving a boxster, but, this morning, I saw I think it was a Seal Grey 997 and as I was moving my hand to flash him, he flashed me first, so I of course flashed back... stupid, but made a crappy morning a little better.

Are you sure it wasn't just a malfunction in one of his HID headlights? :) Tim |
Ha, I suppose it's possible, but no, it was a genuine flash: two flashes of the brights
|
At least it was not a 996....!
|
I've found those guys completely oblivious to the pedigree in Los Angeles.......go figure. Posers. Oops did I say that out loud? Guess I'm just a mid-year snob, go figure.

Yea i always think people are flashing me but then i realize they just hit a bump and the sun reflected the light. I dont see porshes much in my travels but the newer ones never even turn their head to see me. I was crusing nexto a 996 on the highway for a good minute and the guy never looked over. I see cayennes alot and they never acknowledge me. I dunno i guess there just not car people
|
i tried to go search for it but couldn't find one of the funniest threads describing the rules/protocols of which years of vehicles to flash.....i still laugh just thinking of it.
|
I always flash.
To be honest, the only people that don't seem to respond are the longhood Targas. Go figure. |
Hello, My name is Mack...
Im a flasher, and a waver. |
Perhaps he had recently traded his SC for a 997. The flash/wave reflex has not yet worn off.
|
I'm sure it's been said before but, I'll bet the vast majority of the newer watercoolers are leased by a guy more concerned about a certain payment getting him into "Porsh" than anything else; his knowledge of the marque limited to how much his buyout is at the end of the lease.
Most bling of high value is like that; only owned because some turd on MTV Cribs has one. |
im in formerly cold, now sunny ct and i get flashes and waves all the time ,fewer with boxsters but i actually raced with 997 a couple days ago and i dont drive a concours 911 more like a mad max 911
|
So what is the proper protocol? A flash, a wave.....or a pick:D (Seinfeld)
|
I found the rules:D
1- '79-98 911's get an enthusiastic wave 2- '74-78 911's get a wave of sympathy 3- Boxsters get a wave only if they wave first 4- Cayenne owners get a hostile stare or middle finger 5- '99-05 911's - see Boxster 6- Pre '73 911's get a wave and salute 7- 356's- see pre '73 8- 914's get a nod 9- 924, 928,944,968 get eye contact 10- "special" Porsches (anything not covered previously) Use your best judgement. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/231387-porsche-wave-ten-simple-rules.html?highlight=cv+joint |

Same dumb argument for 50 years. Sigh. |
THOSE ARE THE RULES!....Thanks!
They really do describe how things work in real-life out on the streets! :D :D |
Are you sure you weren't going too slow? :D

Thread fails to deliver.
Now if it had been a hot chick in a 997 flashing her headlights... ;) |

As for no waves; I've said it before...Nobody waves/flashes/acknowledges in SoCal. I wave when I come up along another P car (except cayennes) and I get a "screw you buddy" or "whatever" look from those I do. Maybe it's pink slip envy as stated above, when I was a rover guy, my rover got more waves from fellow rover guys. You can always see me when I take the 911; i'm the only guy in OC waving/flashing - look for me. |
