Denver Area Shop owners...
To any of the Denver area shop owners... I'm a certified Porsche Technician from the Philadelphia, Pa area looking to move out west. I've been making the calls and what not just curious if any of you guys may know anyone who might be hiring a good tech. I'm versed in many other manufacturers as well but I'd like to stay with Porsche dealership or independent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some good shops in town and plenty of Porsches. An active PCA chapter including DE events and club racing. A nice part of the world.

I spent a year out there, but was glad to come home to NYC. Most people are from someplace else - and they are true believers. If you are not fully commmited to the place and the lifestyle - you are suspect..

I'll be right behind you in a year or so. Odds of coming back to the Philadelphia area 1:1000. I lived out there for 10 years from Middle school all the way through College. Only reason I came back to Philly is for my Job. Can't wait to get out of here.
Things you'll miss: Cheese steaks Good Bread Hoagies Family The COMPLETION of 309 (if it ever happens) Big green deciduous trees and finally Spring and Fall - in Colorado you almost go from winter straight to summer, nothing like what we get back here, and fall lasts about a week. But summer and winter in Colorado are way way way better than here. The things you'll love about CO are endless, as are the # of things you won't miss about PA. Good luck, Rich

A little bit like "Logan's Run" out there. You go to the park on the weekend - and all these young fit people jogging and biking and all the rest of it.. But then you wonder - where are the old people? Where are the young people?? Where are the fat people, or the brown people or the..

![]() I lived there for a number of years, including my college years after I got out of the service. My wife's family all migrated there from Taiwan back in the 70's/80's. The Denver metro area has a very diverse population, but more typically in the Western US way which leans a bit more Hispanic. I love the Mexican food. ![]() I've lived in many parts of the US, and Denver is a nice place, just like anywhere else. The climate is different (wacky weather in Spring), but it's a pretty good place to live. My wife and I are still considering retiring there. The local economy has gone through boom and bust periods. There are lakes and rivers and mountains and praries. It's a reasonably cosmopolitan area, with quick access to the boonies for the outdoorsman. Lot's of suburbia, so traffic can suck. They've improved some of the highways over the years and added light-rail. Oh yeah...great roads for canyon carving! OMFG! I need to take my 911E back there! ![]()

Slownomore, this post was from Grady Clay nearly two years ago, but it should provide helpful info for you in your job search. Note that some of the shops are not Denver area shops, but their are many listed within the Denver/Boulder metro area.

Sorry Jim - picking on Denver is like picking on Motherhood and apple pie. And not really picking on the place, it is just not for me..
I was there during the "tech boom" almost ten years ago. And yes, just about everyone was from someplace else - usually a rustbelt Midwestern city.. And yes there is a diverse population - just not in the better neighborhoods where young professsionals congregate. The park I was writing about was Washington Park - I looked around one morning and thought - something is really odd about this place. It took me a while to figure it out.. |

Gotcha. Washington Park, Denver Country Club, Cherry Creek area. More money in a small area than is typical of the overall metropolitan area.

One thing that sucks about Denver is the sports fans. Predominently they are fair weather fans and bad sports about it, particularly when they are good. I'm a CU buffs fan, I went to school there, and even the fans there aren't great. The only group I would exlude from that comment are the Broncos fans.
Plus if he is a Philadelphia fan at all he knows if he were to ever switch he'd be disowned by everyone here ![]()

Hey thanks guys first off I will NEVER switch my fanhood towards philly lol we suck and i hate them but I am who I am on that one...
309 will NEVER be finished.. I live right off of it in Ambler and my suspension cries everyday... I will miss cheesesteaks the most but hey if I get a good job i'll spoil myself everyonce in a while and have Geno's ship one out to me haha. I've started making my phone calls but I'm leary with an independent because my aircooled experience IS limited, I'm really only versed in watercooleds so i think im going to have to stay in the dealership route. I will try tho and oddly i'd rather work on old air-cooleds all day long then be ripping interiors out of cayenne's for squeaks and rattles lol... Hopefully someone will give me the chance and take me one even as an apprentice at a speed shop or something.. I dont act like a prima donna (pardon my spelling) so I think I will can become pretty successful. I will brag about being a hard worker but I will never clame to know more then the next guy, I have no problems asking a question when I'm stuck... We'll see how it goes, I'll keep making the calls and who knows maybe soon i'll be a west coaster... Aain thanks for all the help guys...

Funny - it snows more in March and April than in January and February. Snow is nice and dry and basically evaporates in the sunny days that follow. Not much slush or ice to be found. Somehow it has this Buffalo like reputation as a snowy place.. Winter air is dry too - so not as bone chilling as back east..

You've gotta love a place that has two seasons....Spring and Winter...
What? You have a problem with a place that let's you fly into but refuses to let you leave because of winter weather.....
