How long is too long. Items for Sale. proper procedure.

I wanted to get some opinions from you guys! Here goes!

I have had a few parts listed over the past few months and not once but 3 times immediately after my post I had a PM stating I WILL BUY IT! How do I pay you.

So I send a pm back. . . wait 24 hours send a pm asking if they are still interested wait 12 hours go to next in line. Well sure enough the first person who said they wanted it 4 days later just out of the blue sends me money via Paypal. Obviously I issue a refund immediately. But it is frustrating because they do get mad.

How long is to long, Personally I feel in this day and age if you can't respond via pm/email or even phone (I always leave a phone) within 24 hours someone next in line gets dibs. However path has backfired on me a couple times. It's just a crappy situation.

So should you give a buyer who is silent 24hours, 48 hours 5 days.

What do you think?

24 hours. just let them know that in the pm you send them.

Yeah funny I just never thought i needed to do that. You get so accustomed to the instant response in the workplace via email that you think everyone is on that same level I guess.
