Porsche Boredoom Depression.

Spring is finally beginning to show itself up here in the North. Previous years I have been anxious and enthusiastic, looking forward to taking out the Carrera.

Today was a fantastic day. Sun shining threw a very light mist. No wind. Dry roads.

Went out into the garage - and just stood there, looking at the car. Suddenly I didnīt feel like it at all. I felt bored with it. The 'young kid in a candy store' feeling was gone!

I had planned on going on a longer trip, making a few stops in town. Looking forward to the winding country roads, the engine sound, the direct steering but the only thought I had was how tiresome it would be negotiating the car in traffic, fighting to put it in first gear at the red lights.

I sighed and went out. Went back in again. Took another long look at the Carrera and returned out. Grabbed the key to the effortless driving of the Grand Cherokee and left.

Whats happening to me? Is it a transient disease or have I become an old comfortable fart during this last winter.

You're a Doctor. Self-medicate like many on this BBS seem to be doing and you'll be fine. If WideBody were still around I'd have him give you tips on what to take.

Yeah, I had a little of it too, sad to say. Then I took the cover off last week when I got home from a long stay away, and took it for a run up over the mountain. Immediately felt better. Really screaming on the way down, sliding on the sand still on the road, ok, I'm all better!

This is normal. Its actually time to consider lowering your car and getting a new suspension along with a new set of wheels. You will have a whole new driving experience.

Automatic transmission sapping will to live, couchlike front seat dulling sensation in spine, numb steering blurs distinction between passenger and driver, fuel economy, ludicrous, must, resist the darkside...

Seasonal Affective Disorder, it will pass after burning a few litres of petrol at an imprudent rate in a car that won't put you to sleep. I thought you had a targa, your outlook will improve even more quickly with the sun on your face and the wind in your hair.

Thanks guys!

Maybe its some kind of post-winter Porsche desensitizing bug.

I shall take your kind advice to heart. Tomorrow I will lower my car, drink several bottles of beer and drive it like I stole it!

Oh yeah. I'd be worried if you were miserable after a drive.

How old did you say you are ?

Get rid of the Grand Cherokee and buy yourself a nice crappy Ford Pinto for your other car. You will be thrilled to drive your 911 every chance you get.

Crap! I am sorry, I did not know it was contagious. Moderators, please close thread before the boredom spreads all over the community.

Ugh. The last few days here in CT have been GORGEOUS (today, not so much): temps around 70, sunny skies, etc.

As my 951 sits on jackstands in the garage with its head removed, I drive around in a brick-shaped tank powered by a tractor motor shaking my fist at every nice car that drives by. Seriously, within 15 mins yesterday I saw a 968, a 997TT, another 951, a Maser Quattroporte, an Aston DB9, and a Ford Model A. I think these people are taunting me.
