Poppy Pinot Noir is good stuff too!
 

Very similar to the Cartlidge & Browne maybe just a touch less fruity (maybe) and smooth as ball bearings.

Very, very drinkable. A nice detour before i jump back into some Spanish wines.

$15 at the local wine shop but may be cheaper elsewhere.

Had with baked salmon, green beens and a few 1065's. The flavors balanced nicely and the alcohol helped with the exchange of partnership interests/sale/distribution of assets.

Looking forward to finishing the bottle tomorrow.

For the sake of conversation i recently dumped the remainder of a Beaulieu Vineyards Rutherford Cabernet. Absolutely undrinkable. Bummer for a $25 cabernet. I will be trying Cartlidge & Browne's cabernet next (well, next time i have cabernet).

Will also be trying something from Willamette Valley as per PWD's suggestion.

On a side note I stumbled onto some Cline Zinfandel that is very nice.

Maybe a little fruity for some of you but very drinkable.

I LOVE pinot noirs. I bet you are getting some good ones out of Northern California.

Here in New Zealand we are doing some good ones and the place for them is Central Otago, which is fairly near the bottom of the country. We get warm winds blowing over from Australia (thanks Guys) then it gets cool at night with all the sea around us. Makes a spectacular PN. I don't know if the US is importing these ones but if you see them they are worth a shot - Rabbit Ranch, Lakes Hayes and Rippon. Various others around but those three are my favorites and in that order too.

Both of these are excellent Pinots, and the 2006 can be had for about $20

Scott agree on the Cline. Don Plumley recommended Cline and to date it has been my favorite zin.

PN's are just SOOOO easy to drink! And work so nice with food! it's 11pm here and i'm half tempted to open yet another PN (have some Lily here; the Poppy is at the office) and stay up a while.

On further thought the Poppy did not have quite the floral nose that the C&B has. But lord jesus does it glide over the tongue. It MAY be a touch heavier than the C&B as well. Tomorrow i will take a bit more time with a glass and more carefully consider the nose.



Okay, that nose thing sounds a bit silly to some i'm sure but it really is something when you are enjoying a wine and it's not even in your hand!

you know Scott i wonder if the fruitiness is why i liked the Cline as well. some other zins have been too hot and not particularly enjoyable.
