E34 530i
It's a 92 with the m60 motor (V8) I'm changing the motor mounts. The drivers side is a PITA. I'm contemplating taking the cross member out because I just can't seem to get a wrench or socket and swivel on the top mount bolt to remove it. I've taken the alternator loose, the power steering pump is out, so all the clearance I can get on the bottom is maximized unless I take the subframe/cross member out. Can you please lead me in a direction that will help me get that top mount bolt out with out removing the aforementioned member? It a tight sumbytch on that side.
So far I've tried a small 17 wrench from the bottom, a swivel 17 socket from the top, double swivel from the top. I got frustrated so I stopped. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting. The book doesnt list the 530 until 94, but I dont know e34's at all, so not sure if it's right.
The job pays 2.1 hrs both sides, left side is 2hrs. If that is correct, IF, I cant see it being that involved. Does this help? http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/Maintenance/Engine/Mounts.htm |

My mistake, I was told it was a 92. That makes it sound so easy, then the 530-540 get a footnote. I had my angles all wrong, will remove the brake fluid res. to see if the angle is any better. Thanks
