How about a fat lazy guy thread?

I'm feeling a little bad here...

Right now we have red beard biking 150 miles for MS (great cause and great job red)

Legion posting about benching 335, congrats on that legion! Back in the day I lifted a few weights but at 51 years old my shoulders and elbows don't approve of such activities anymore.

Then there is P-O-P talking about pedaling up Crest road... I can see that hill from my house... it is, I don't know, several hundred feet if not a thousand elevation of constant up hill switchbacks, a fun road to take the 944 out on and squeal the tires around but ride a bicycler up it? furgetaboutit!

When I am sticking to my plan I eat pretty healthy, lots of veggies, seafood, etc. and go for a long walk or ride my bike at least once a week, and do the stairs at work instead of elevator/escalator... that translates into A LOT of stairs where I work.

But... and this is a big but...

This last month did two weeks of non stop overtime, then one week business trip to Tampa Fl., then did a one week Mexican Riviera Princes Cruise...

Needless to say I'm feeling pretty fat and lazy right about now.

So how about you guys... can anybody else out there beat a solid month of bad food and little or no exercise?

That is the spirit!

Come on guys... you can't all be jocks.. how about a thread for the rest of us?

Had jack in the box bacon egg cheese biscuit for breakfast! That should cover my sat fat/cholesterol/sodium intake for the weekend!

Worked 8AM to 11PM yesterday and 7AM to 5PM today... finally a normal evening at home tonight.
Last night dinner consisted of two protein bars around 7-8 and when I got home around 11:30 a handful of raw almonds with a bottle of zinfandel.

I have been hitting the gym real steady lately and working on my new eating plan BUT broke down yesterday and went to the Chinese buffet with the boys. I did OK - stayed with the meat and veggies but still ate too much. Its hard switching from being a fatass to something less than that.

Gotta go - heading to the gym.

SlowToady 04-12-2008 09:20 AM

Sure can, I'm a college student:-D I haven't exercised, really, since last summer, although 2 or 3 times this semester I did go to the gym and do 15-20 miles on the exercise bike. Bad food? Does college food count?

I'm mostly sedentary these days, mostly just sitting around, doing homework and programming. I'm still slim and somewhat cut, but I REALLY need to get back working out.

Wow this thread really scares me.

Do we really want to face these demons?

I keep saying that it is good that I now chubby because it makes me a better husband; or at least a faithful one. In addition to my religious conviction..;)

When I was young, I could eat anything.
Now in my early 40's, one bite of a burrito and I feel like i have gained 2 lbs!

I have a full gym 20 steps from my office (empty all the time) but like most managers, I seem to be working all the time. I need to take little breaks and walk over and do a little but of exercise,,,,help, I am weak!:p

One mans demon is another mans angel!

We are not fat, we are built for comfort not speed!

Everyone should introduce their belly - if they've named it. Hello, my name is Mike, and this is my belly - Gunter. Gunter tends to take over when I travel for work and have no desire to watch what I eat because I can expense whatever I want and my wife is not with me. On occasion I have been known to light a cigarette after a huge steak meal. As soon as I get home from a long trip, my bowels loosen up and disturbance in the force occurs. A few days later I'm back to normal and resume normal daily eating habits.

dhoward 04-12-2008 11:17 AM

20lbs overweight.
Bacon, and eggs, but wheat toast for breakfast.
Leftover butter/garlic chicken wings for lunch.
Gonna barbeque some baby-backs for dinner.

Weather this month has been a real de-motivator.

Took a stress test on Wednesday, along with some blood work. Despite my slothfulness, tickers in pretty good shape. Started taking Chantrix last week to quit smoking. Seems to be working pretty well so far.
Don't worry though, Biking for me consists of sitting on a slow Harley and bar-hopping. Only running I do is to the car if it's raining really hard.
Carry on...
:)

I've never been a runner...always swam for exercise.

Is it just me, or do most serious runners you see seem to always have expressions of anger/torture? Maybe I just always catch them before the endorphins kick in.;)

I live a block from a very popular bike/jogging path and yes the runners usually look like they are under the care of the Spanish Inquisition.

My gym told me to stop bringing bacon in when I work out. At least a pint of Ben & Jerry's fits in the treadmill cupholders. When I'm tired, it's sometimes hard to get the spoon in my mouth, but a little concentraion helps on the second try.

sammyg2 04-12-2008 02:50 PM

I weigh 60 pounds more than I did in high school. I'm not really fat, I was just really, really skinny then and I'm tall ;)

OK I've got a belly but it's the only thing I have that's bought and paid for.

EDIT: I've also had knee surgery and major back surgery, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Dan J 04-12-2008 03:00 PM

I recently had a little knee surgery. On the intake form I noticed there was a line "Patients physical condition" I then noticed that the Super cute 28 year old 105lb Korean P.A. had written: "Well nourished" Well I'm all that and some. My lame ass excuse is also work. Own my own business, in at 7 leave at 7 put out fires all day, when I get home that homemade whiskey sour is so much more apealling then the treadmill, weight bench, bicycle. but if I don't start I'll prolly blow up shortly. What's a guy to do?

LakeCleElum 04-12-2008 04:47 PM

Last year, I bicycled 1,275 miles....This year, I've had an ear infection for 2 months now and it's been really crappy weather. I'm only at 135 miles for the year so far!!!! I'm an athlete trapped in the body of a couch potato!
