I've been really happy with my 4 post lift from www.gregsmithequipment.com

I work on the car and store the car on it all winter. I also bought the jacks.

Pro-Park 7 from Greg Smith Equip. Works great and can be moved from bay to bay with one hand...when wanting.

Do you also want to be able to work on your car, or is it strictly storage? The answer makes a big difference in what you buy.

I also have the Pro Park 7 from Greg Smith. I use for mostly storage of my Mustang, but have used it to work on the cars.

I can post pictures if you would like,

Bill

Bill,

I've been watching the garage thread(s) since I'm rebuilding some barns this fall. I'd appreciate some pics of your set up.
Thanks in advance

Anyone have any experience with an attachment for a 4 post lift that allows you to lift the car off the ramps ( by the chassis) after it's in ther air so you can remove the wheels?

The Greg Smith lifts include a sliding jack plate that fits between the runners to lift the chassis with another jack. They also include removable casters that enable the lift to be moved around the garage.

Just suck it up and get the bridge jacks. They come with a hand pump but have them convert them to pneumatic. You won't regret it. Here's the finished product:

Also, if you do get the bridge jacks order a another set of the short extensions because you'll need them in the rear. The yellow ones in this pic:

Good Luck!

Garage Itself

Thanks for the information on greg smith. Did you have it shipped to your house and you installed it? Or did someone else install it for you?

I would be interested in knowing ceiling height in the garage and the set up of the garage doors. I'm building a garage and I was looking at 10' with a pitched roof to make it 13' in the center.

My car will mainly be for storage only. I have a car that is 60" that will go below it. Actually a Saab wagon.

I also like to know how secure it feels with the car above. The picture with the 2 porsches makes me confortable.

Building a new crib.

Gonna put something like this in.

Showed the P cars pick to the wife, said it even comes with casters.

She said" what are casters, it's oil right?"

Had my Pro-Park 7 shipped to my workplace, then used a forklift to set it on a snowmobile trailer to get it home. Once there, I unloaded and assembled it myself using a cable winch tied to the ceiling trusses. Took about 6 hours total to set it up, would have been easier with another person or two for the heavy moving of the runners.

My ceiling is 10 ft. Plenty of room for storage and parking beneath. Enough room to drive my Ranger under the Porsche stored above in the winter.
I paid $1595, but that was a year ago.

The first time driving underneath a parked car above is a little stressful.
