Pic of my 135 gallon salt water reef tank

I just upgraded my lighting over my 135 gallon, 6 foot long 2 foot high saltwater reef tank that is loaded with numerous corals and fish. Pretty happy with the new metal halides.

I know a couple other Pelicans have posted about owning reef tanks in the past so I thought I'd share.

I just added three 250 watt metal halide bulbs, Coralview Reeflux 12K spectrum over the six foot long tank which adds a nice even crisp white light with a blue actinic tint.

Yeah, I grow coral rocks as a hobby.

And you though 911's were expensive, in the last 15 years I've spent over a "used 911SC" on this tank.

I'm guessing that you have to monitor the temp closely with 750 watts of heater strapped to the top your tank.

Are those 15K MH?
Very nice. I added 3 15K 175W MHs w/ 2 10K HO on each side. Took down an array of T-5s.
I like the ripple effect of the MH point light sources. As well as the improved zooanthellae production for the photosynth animals.
I haven't had an issue w/heat, as the fixture is suspended about 5" above the surface.
Not as much coral as the 15 year-old prefers to focus his efforts on dangerous, poisonus fauna.
Lionfish, Moray, foxface, you get the idea.
I'll get a picture of ours up tonight..

I left the sharks in the sea on our last scuba dive........Roatan Honduras, count the fins in the photo, no cage.......cage are for wimps.......'course these are just small 12' reef sharks, I won't dive with a great white. Sorry, no head mounted laser beams

Now THIS was the biggest shark I've dove with, about a 14' long FAT bull shark in Fiji.

Yeah we were hand feeding them.

I like this shot of mine with the meat hanging out of the sharks mouth......cool shot, one of my favorites.

Happy Sharks, Happy Diver, Happy reef tank. fun stuff.

You can tell from those pics that those are some relaxed sharks. Looks very safe.

I've been in the water with angry sharks- quite a different experience.

Cool dive!

Yup Dan on the Roatan shark dive you are correct Sir.........we've done cocoview resort 2x now, would love to do a 3rd and 4th and 5th.......last time there I got in 25 dives in 5.5 days, so yeah I live underwater while "relaxing" on vacation.

CarNutzzz, me too been with angry sharks......this one didn't like my camera strobe, and afterwords the dive guides in fiji told me I was nuts and loco, the shark kept circling me shaking and twitching his head back and forth in sharp moves, with eyes a bouncing around. I circled him right back and wasn't going to take my eyes off of that one. Made for great video though! (insert nervous laughter here)

Fiji shark dive is awesome, they lower TWO FULL rubermaid garbage cans down full of meat to feed the sharks. They sometimes even get Tiger Sharks and hand feed them, but we didn't see any on our dives. IF ANYONE needs Fiji tips, I've been there 3 times in 5 years and would love to help you out.

More Fiji Shark Dive photos. Look at the huge school of jacks following the garbage can down.

Now THIS is a fat shark when you can barely get your arms around him.........tons of fish and flurry of activity. What a rush at 80-85 foot deep.
