"Artist"? This person needs a beating. WTF

Check this crap out!
An "artist", chained up a dog in a gallery, starved to death to let it die. Hundreds of people came to see it every day. Not one person thought to rescue this poor dog. Another example of what sick ba$tards we have in the world.

I'm not even going to watch the video, but a slow torturous death would be too good.

Joeaksa 04-15-2008 10:49 AM

Vinny,

Lets take the same chain and collar and chain the jerk up to it for a month or three. See how he likes it?!

Have no sense of humor for crap like this.

it's george bush's fault for sending our artists into this senseless iraq war.

K. Roman 04-15-2008 10:54 AM

I looked into this via the internets available and have concluded that the reporting of the dog dying from this "exhibit" is inconclusive. I don't know what to believe but the exhibit was supposed to be about the many stray dogs that die everyday within that country. And also about a security gaurd that was killed by a pack of strays.

Certain news reports say the dog was only tied up for around 3 hours and then was let go or ran away back into the streets.

Pictures were took and it was implied by the artist and gallery that it died there after performing for weeks to the gallery visitors.

I actually don't believe any patron of a gallery would let this happen, therefore I believe this to be fake and to stir controversy and awareness of the artists statements.

In that case, good job!

Rikao4 04-15-2008 11:02 AM

I would beat his a$$ just for 'thinking' this would be art.

We can then call his blood trail 'art'.

I cannot believe that this is true. The Snopes page raises a lot of questions.

It makes an effective story, though, further to Roman's comment.

Any publicity is good publicity right?

Sick.

svandamme 04-15-2008 11:36 AM

so where are the art lovers now to tell me that it's my fault that i don't understand art, that i'm just not educated enough in the world of art to "get it"

if that guy get's near me, i'll make an art work too,
i'll call it "chop-chop high pitch voice from now on"

VINMAN 04-15-2008 11:39 AM

Well, hopefully its not true. I hate to think someone would actually do this. But then again it wouldnt suprise me in the least...

MichiganMat 04-15-2008 11:41 AM

Who told that guy that it was OK to make art that would piss me off?

Im... Im outraged.

svandamme 04-15-2008 11:44 AM

even if the dog was not starved, it still was tied up on a cold floor just for viewing pleasure

not rug to sleep on, no water bowl, no food during opening hours... none of that

MichiganMat 04-15-2008 11:56 AM

Anyone can easily discount stray animals walking freely in the streets, but can you look one in the eye with potential food used for display purposes?

Given the possibility that the dog lived, Id say its quite a statement being made, one thats impossible not to have a reaction to. That to me is good art.

legion 04-15-2008 12:14 PM

If this really happened, I can't imagine it not going on without thousands of PETA protesters and hundreds of rescue attempts.

In the absence of that, it makes me think that it was a story INVENTED by PETA to drum up popular support for something to come...

. . . snip . . .

This is exactly what the Snopes piece stated as the point of the exhibit.

What do we as people do when no one is watching vs. what we do when we are under the spotlight?

How many stray animals have you walked past? The right thing to do is to feel compassion and a desire to take action to help the exhibit dog, but do "we" share the same compassion and desire to help when the animal is among us on the streets?

FWIW.

Best,

Kurt

Rikao4 04-15-2008 12:38 PM

so lets chain him..
we can then all stand about & feel for the poor criminals rotting away in prison.
see, everyone feels better already.

Art bites man, I like it.

I like the idea of chopping him up and feeding his body parts to a bunch of strays and dogs in the pound.

Racerbvd 04-15-2008 03:47 PM

Well, I do help with strays, didn't need some assbite to stage a art showing like that. A cute puppy or kitten face does the job.

The facts about animal control agencies are scary. More than 70% of cats who enter animal shelters are killed. And Alley Cat Allies is determined to change that fact.

Every year, Alley Cat Allies mounts a tremendous campaign to educate the citizens and policy makers of our country about the cruel policies that are killing our nation’s cats. Last year alone, we responded to over 45,000 requests for information from caring individuals across the country.

But there are still so many citizens who need to hear about the cruel policies—and the fact that their tax dollars are being used to kill cats. And there are so many emergencies we must be prepared for.

That is why I’m asking you to join Alley Cat Allies’ community of committed donors by making a gift of $10, $25, or even $50 today.

With your support, we will:

Consult with policymakers to create policies that work for citizens, governments, and outdoor cats,
Conduct crucial research to prove that our current animal control system is inefficient, ineffective, and cruel,
And, organize massive campaigns to spread the truth about stray and feral cats to citizens nationwide.
But we can’t do it without you. Just this year - with the help of supporters like you - we have have stopped the killing of cats in Cape May, NJ, Chantilly, VA, and Randolph, IA.

So please, click here to make a donation today and join tens of thousands of citizens who protect outdoor cats by supporting Alley Cat Allies.

We need you now more than ever before. Please don’t miss this chance to make a difference.

For the cats,

Becky Robinson

President

P.S. Please click here to make your life-saving gift today.

would be more relevant showing some guy with an art history degree slowly starving to death.

Zeke 04-15-2008 04:36 PM

In a previous thread, posters were stating that "art" was supposed to be provocative in one way or another. Provocation can take many forms beyond art. This is not art. This is a campaign of some sort, fake, faked or otherwise.

I won't watch it either, but who claimed that this was done by an artist? Did they mean anarchist?

Byron,
I'm not sure I caught this organization's drift:

What does this group advocate happening to the feral cats other than saving their lives? Will they adopt them? The piece doesn't say.

Turns out people aren't very nice to each other, either. Makes for great "art" though.

Lots more where these came from, this barely scrapes the surface of the proud history of the human race.

If this is what we can do to our own species, I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that we can treat other species badly too...

search for joel peter witkin.

THing is Brian, those are not art, they are pictures of atrocities, so I guess there is some commonality with this subject.

Does not matter.

So he prettended to starve a dog to death and call it art. How about I put his mouth on the curb and kick him in the back of the head a few times and call that art. He can glue his teeth to a piece of construction paper and make his own art after.

I don't walk by stray animals. I could not even guess how many times I have caught a stray dog and either put them together with their owner, or found them a new place to live, even in my home.

Michigan Mat is offensive to me, does that mean he is an artist?
