What would Jesus think about the Pope's Attire?

It is not my intent to offend any Catholics that may frequent this board. But I see the way the Pope and his following dresses and wonder where this came from. I can't help but believe that if He could see the Pope all dressed up in his fancy attire Jesus would be surprised if not dismayed. This "showy" ostentatious manner of dress seems to be in direct conflict with the humility they should be presenting. What am I missing? It seems the Amish are closer in practice to what Jesus would have liked.

if the outfit doenst impress the big guy, the art collection at the vatican will!

Does heaven have Fashion Police? If so, I think they'd have a field day. . .

That said, the tradition and pageantry of Catholicism is pretty interesting. All very deliberately intended to create an atmosphere of awe and reverence (look at St. Peter's - very much designed for this purpose). Extremely effective at using the details to help create/instill the desired feelings in people.

Jesus showed his disgust very clearly for the priests and their fancy robes and their greed.

Based on what he said in the bible, Jesus would not be pleased at all with "his" church.

"look at St. Peter's "
I was there as a teenager. At the time you could actually touch the gold flower leaves. I did not think about it much at the time, but later became very confused. All of that stuff could sure have fed alot of people. I believe Mother Teresa had it right though. Is it any wonder we find that men who dress as they do have "issues with children?"

I think Jesus would grab the hat, start running away laughing and yelling " I got your hat, I got your hat!"

"Right.."

I am not the one who dresses like this.

Compare this with the Amish, or even the Mennonites. Then tell me which is closer to the teachings. Ego, greed, status, money. Where is there room for this?
