JUNO - really cool movie but I don't know why!

I just watched this movie tonight and I loved it. Funny really 'cos I can't tell you why. I just enjoyed the pace, humor, great characters, and good music. It isn't at all action packed or anything - just cool, quirky.

Anyone else seen it? Please tell me why it was so good!

TGTIW 04-17-2008 05:59 PM

It wasn't.

I think it was a little transparent in trying to be cool, and not actually being cool.

Not a bad movie, but, nothing really that great.

Maybe I'm just in that kind of mood. It struck me as good, but then I'm odd.

I loved it. One of the first movies to come out of Hollywood in a long time that I liked. Great story. IIRC it won an award for the storyline too, if that means anything. . .

It was doubly great because it didn't have the typical-as-of-late over-reliance on special effects. It was just pure simple real-world acting talent. Enjoyed every minute.

The soundtrack is flippin' awesome. Well worth the 15 bucks.

I'm glad it's not just me!

I might have to buy the soundtrack as I really enjoyed the music. Now that I think about it there was one particular thing that I liked that I don't normally pay attention to - the opening credits. I liked the way it swithched from real to animation then back for the start of the movie. Even in the very first scene the edge of the animation remained in shot as the girl entered the store, neat artsy stuff. I think I might have to watch it again soon and see if I can find what it was that appealed to me.

Haven't seen it yet - but you know what it sounds like? High Fidelity. Even though I like John (and Joan) Cusack, I have NO IDEA why that movie is any good. But, I love it.

It's just the power of good writing, which will never go out of style, thank God. The ex-stripper deserved the Oscar for writing that, IMO.

I didnt see it, but Love with the Proper Stranger, with Steve McQueen and Natalie Wood has a good pro-life message, wrapped around a love story and way ahead of its time too.

It was good, but they tried too hard to make the girl appear street smart beyond her years.

Also, I would disagree that it was a pro-life message. It was a choice message as there was no negative vibe given when the abortion option was proposed. It was always mentioned and received in a matter-of-fact way. I think the goal was to not make it a point of preaching.

And actually I think the kid is the better actor, the girl is a bit over the top but still above average.

Great movie. It was pro-life, but not preachy. The Pro-life message is reduce the number of abortions period! Choose life is the pro-life message, and if the abortion option were no longer available it would great victory. Even the pro-choice crowd believes abortions should be reduced, but never the option.

Bela is another good pro-life film. Horton Hears a who has another similar message to value life no matter how small. For many years pro-life organizations have used it, and still do.

It is my hope one day the millions of lives damaged and destroyed by abortion will be seriously reduced or eliminated. It is my hope that the State will protect the unborn not at an arbitrary age, but at the beginning of life.
