New to me post.
Finally have some decent pics of my new to me 930.
87 with 53,000 miles. No mods except for the exhaust. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1208827505.jpg (Photo credit to Duke Zink) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1208827590.jpg |
That's a great car! Post it in the tech forum, too!
|
That's a nice one
|
Great ride! Love the color.
|
Sweet! I love the 930 in GP White.
|
Interesting license plate, too, having 491 in it.
|
Sooooooo nice....
|
Going to show my ignorance here ... What is the significance of 491?

Agreed!! :D :D :D Quote:
I am only guessing here. That would be the potential RWHP if you put about 5K into it. :D I kid. |
I know you kid, $5k would only be the first step on the slippery slope.
|
491 is probably an option code.
|
491 is the option code for the factory Turbo Look option!
That was an expensive (around $15,000) option on the Carrera from 84-89, basically a Turbo everything (body, suspension, brakes), with the regular Carrera engine. |
the is correct. The m491 cars (just over 1000 made in 5 years, most coupes, very few targas and fewer cabs) were the basic 930 with the turbo engine removed and the 3.2l engine installed. Other differences are the turbo script under the tail, and the back windshield wiper. This was all done to get the turbo body style in the US when the California emissions laws wouldn't allow the 930 in...
BTW - if you want a m491 car, my mom has one she'd like to sell. Been sitting for a few years, 2nd gear went buh-bye (which is why it was parked). |

Or, de-badge it and make it a sleeper. ;)
|
I remember seeing that car. (in my mirror) LOL.
You really need to see this car to believe it. I swear that no one has ever sat in either seat or put their feet on the carpet. It's PERFECT. |
That would be just wrong Jim.
Besides, the wastegate peeking out underneath would give it away. Especially when I shoot the flames out of my ass. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/vuur.gif |
Thanks Duke.
BTW, I see someone made a comment on the Bill follows Bill YouTube vid. Did you see that? :D:D:D:D |
