Photoshop pros... need help - will pay
I have a very last minute deal to swap some engine parts for bumper stickers/crests that I want to have made. Problem is the guy needs a good clean image by end of day if I want to do this.
I have a small (2-3") image, and I need to have a larger one created to have 18" crests made. The original image is crappy even in its current small size, so I'd basically need a new one created. I'm more than glad to pay to have this done if someone here wants to make a few bucks this afternoon. I don't really know what a reasonable $$ is, so lemme know what you think is reasonable. Here's the crest: http://www.jakepalmeristheman.com/up...182-765211.jpg Here are a couple of the elements, if that would be useful: http://www.jakepalmeristheman.com/up...its-737549.bmp If anyone thinks they can do this, pls reply here or PM THANKS! |
Where did the images come from?
Are they 72 DPI jpgs from the web that you want to print 18"s? The resolution for print images should be 300 dpi at 100% of size. If the smaller ones are 300 dpi at 2-3"s they are already 6-9 x's too small. If they are 72 dpi then they are 30-45 x's too small. You can't take an image that small and simply blow it up. Depending on how you do it you'll either make pixels that are 6-9 times normal size or photochop will have to "guess" at what pixels it needs to create, the immage will be fuzzy and look like crap. If you do not have them hi resolution for your need I suggest you go to istockphoto.com and see if they have something suitable. 2 images from there might cost you all of $10. |
Thanks!
image was created by my brother last year... all he has left is what's above. I want to get 18" crests for the doors, and some 8" bumper stickers for the other members of the Militia All of that sounds much more complicated than me paying $$ for someone to create a new image. I don't have the time/skills. I was hoping some slacker would have some time to kill and wanted to make a few bucks this afternoon. |
Jake,
Since you put it that way... I'll give it a shot; I'm no pro though. I think I have your email address? Give me a few minutes; Cheers, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1209151388.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1209151402.jpg |
ah, I was just looking for high res pics of raquets and machine gun and found those ^ Ha!
|
Thanks rob!
I'm actually headed out for a couple hours now, and the printer now says he doesn't need it until tonight. Thanks! |
Hey Buddy,
My photoshopCS didn't have the crest design or the scroll design; yikes! So I had to copy it and draw it out.... but based on the original crest, this should do fine? I'm just uploading the original TIFF file to my website now and will post a link your printer can download the original 18"x18" at 300dpi format. Cheers, Yours: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1209156639.jpg Mine: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1209155953.jpg I was able to use the 2nd pic you supplied with the gun & raquets. A friend of mine taught me a little PS trick, you crunch the photo a tad at the same time you increase the dpi's. Then you increase the image size and with the larger dpi already programed it saves the image quality better when enlargened. Seems to work? But like I said, I'm no pro. Cheers good buddy! |
thanks Rob...
someone else also sent me this by email... Who'd John P. at a yahoo email address? Thanks! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1209158309.gif My wife is going to LOVE this on the samurai! |
That is nice.
Can John P. send that to me and I'll put the clearer logo pic in it? rob@rolyn.biz My crest and scroll are weak. Cheers. Here's the link for your printer: LINK: www.rolyn.biz/Jake1Crest.tif |
Hey Rob,
It's great that you could pitch in and help but look at your tiff onscreen at 100%. That's what it will print like. If he's getting it free then maybe it does not matter but really no offense it is just not going to print well at all. There is all sorts of noise from the jpg compression and the image looks bad. Here's a link to the AK on istock. The 300 dpi version will be $5 bucks. Have not found the right tennis racket yet. Considering the size and low quantity of the crests Not needs I am going to assume the printer will not be running this as offset print but will use a continuous tone plotter with outdoor pigments. This should be verified. That means the resolution can be 150 dpi at full size since there won't be data loss due to the screening process. |
Thanks,
I'm just a friend of Jake's and was trying to help him out, so yeah it was free. Kinda like getting your friends to help you build a fence over a box of beer, its free but man it looks like $hit. ha, ha. Just a grandpa guy that plays around with this stuff. I got into that image and it was very tough as I didn't have the crest, scrolls, etc; so crap it didn't work out. I think Jake's got it covered now and we both appreciate your help! |
