Think about it: Asians have to score higher to get into college, so little Asian kids get it drummed into them that they need to work harder and score higher to get into school. The same thing happened to Jews 50 years ago. Affirmative action programs have arguably had a devastating effect on the Black population precisely because it gives Blacks preferential treatment: there is reduced individual incentive to increase scores.

However, Slow's point above is well taken. The other travesty of affirmative action is that it inflames racial tensions to the extent that whites who would otherwise be generous and encouraging to non-whites go around saying things like some of the things you can read on this board.

Sorry, there is no such thing as "reverse" discrimination. Discrimination is discrimination. Period. And yes, Asians are actively discriminated against at the University of California.

I don't so much care about the lawyers, but when the playing field is tilted so you get more of any ethnic group with lesser qualified medical school students, it worries me.
