I just think carmakers should stop selling new cars in Cali to break them of all of their ridiculous mandates...

without the mandates, the air here would be intolerable (I remember the 60's). And in this case, our mandates are helping to drive innovation.

The air from Cali eventually drifts to Bloomington, IL.

All the more reason to take away all of the cars. I'm sure you guys could innovate something better.

Hot air rises, it goes over the Midwest.

Todd, I think this is what Chris is referring to:

"Bloomington, IL is home to Beer Nuts, Inc."

"the concept might be used "not just for an electric car but a range of city cars" that could us small gasoline or diesel engines - or perhaps BMW's motorcycle engines."

That would be awesome if they put a BMW motorcycle engine in one of those. High revving, great mileage, and more power than you need in one of those things.

Todd, that is wrong in so many ways it is not even funny, perhaps the drivinginnovation thing is true, but passenger vehicles have become almost insignificant when compare to industrial sources of air pollution

The bulk of the air pollution problems in California are from industrial sources, energy generation and big trucks(18 wheelers), that sort of thing. I thought this was common knowledge. Passenger vehicles are minor contributors now, but are the most tightly regulated with further mandates inexorably coming because it makes the thieving bastards at the Capitol seem to be humans. You want air quality improvement now, forget about passenger vehicles for a while and look at the real contributors.

Your links are correct, California produces a huge amount of agricultural products. If you ever eat an almond, it was probably grown in California. They grow a crazy amount of citrus too, and this is with the prime farmland converted to housing as fast as they can do it.
