GW IS An American Hero

Some very astute energy analysts have said that the world has reached PEAK OIL PRODUCTION. All the easy to get cheap to produce Oil is now outa the ground or is soon to be. That means that everyday that passes a barrel of oil will be harder and more costly to produce. At this moment in history there IS NOT another source of energy available to go online that can even match THE Oil as an energy source.

That means that the World for the foreseeable future is going to be addicted to the black stuff. NO WAY AROUND IT>

So in light of that the USA has gone into the country with the mostest left in the ground. IRAQ....the USA is securing the worlds energy source of choice for itself and its friends. So that this global economy which delivers such wonder amenities as refrigeration and electric light will be sustainable into the future.

Mankind is finally reaching the limits of what this planet will sustain in the way of raping the land for its resources. Going forward commodities such as food and energy will become increasingily difficult to get. The reason is that mans population has exploded in the last 60 years going from 3 Billion people in 1962 to 6.5 Billion people in 2008, with a projected population of 11 Billion in 2050. At some point the planet will become exhausted at supporting so many people and mass starvation, lack of potable water, and diease will decimate that population. Man at this moment is at the zeinith of his arc. Never beofre and never after...will man have such abundence.

PS. While the USA cannot determine the outcome of many of its military adventures, it does have the ability of making sure that anybody who oposes her will be left with scorched earth as an outcome of that oposition.

The US military supreamacy is after all good for somthing...

The debacle in Iraq has put the free market availability of Iraqi oil in jeopardy. Look at Iraqi oil production and sales under Saddam and after. Saddam was a bastard, but he was an oil supply/price stabilizing bastard.

Oil will never be cheap again...not with Peak Production behind us.

I'll refute my own comment. I looked up Saddam's oil production numbers. He was pretty erratic. Post invasion production is not off as far as I thought it was. I hit the keys before doing my homework. Carry on...

I for one, am working on the technology to turn whale oil and blubber into an alternative fuel for our automobiles. Now THAT's "biodiesel" squared.

The silver lining of high oil prices is the real economic incentive to find sustainable alternate energy sources and efforts in conservation. Maybe GW will reveal one day that he did it all for those reasons. Maybe not.

Iraq doesn't have the most oil under the ground, they are rated #4 with 115 billion bbls, compared to Saudi's 265.
Canada has about 180 billion bbls and Iran has 132.
Iraq's oil is also deeper and much harder to get to.

I don't believe we have reached peak oil yet. We're close, but my guess is we're about 10 or 15 years from it.
Now here's the big question:
If he just wanted to increase oil production, all he had to do was get the UN to lift all the sanctions. they would max out their production to levels significantly higher than they are at right now.
No, that doesn't add up. He was going after Hussein and his military/terrorist threat (Sadam, not obama).

GW doesn't want to increase production he wants to INSURE that it gets pumped and sold to the RIGHT people. So 265 plus 132 plus 115 equals 512 B Barrels in the hood...where America has a military presence to get their hands on the black stuff.

no, you were right the first time, he was not reporting all the oil he was pumping, I guarantee it.

Potable fresh water will be much more important than fuel in the lifetime of practically everyone who reads this sentence.

The earth continues to make oil, it will never run out, although they never did say we would run out of it did they? so they must agree with me.

Hey, how much do we have up North and in Russia? No ratings on that? You know, if they use the less quality oil deposits for the manufacturing needs and not waste the light stuff, we might be OK for a spell.

I, too, like that statement, but at least we can make water pure with power from the sun. We would be in a relatively tough spot, but if that were the priority, we can do it.

Canada is absolutely soaked in oil, but isn't it of the *more expensive to pull out of the ground* variety?

Not at $120 a barrel it isnt. Neither is all the oil in Alaska. You let gasoline get to around $5 a gallon and all those tree huggers will run over the snail darters to get to cheaper oil.

The one good thing that is now happening is that people are FINALLY looking at alternative energy. Dammit, why didnt we go after solar, wind and nuke power 30 years ago? Some days we are very slow to learn...

The supply of potable water is not the issue. We can produce potable water from sea water with existing technology. Most of the world is water.

The issue is getting the water where its needed; from point A to point B. Solve that and we edge closer to ending famine and a host of ills caused by famine and hunger.

Come the day we can efficiently extract energy from water will be day one when oil remains in the ground and countries begin a battle for water rights.
