no wonder they don't care!

They don't pay for anything and yet we expect them to understand our pain! How can they collectively govern when they are above it all. I'm sure they get a living allowance while in Washington DC and travel expenses, they get full pay for retirement.

They don't give a rat's a$$ what happens to us.

I see in the article that only the House allows it - not the Senate.

We've let them get away with it over the years. No one wants to vote out their local rep.

Senator's may get drivers and a black SUV for all I know!

Seems like there should be some kind of accountability for representatives, not just carte blanche.

Give it a few years, they'll all be driving hybrids to be eco-friendly. Lexus hybrids.

My constituents put me here to represent! The people's will cannot be denied!

Do they need anything bigger than a smart car? Let's save some parking space.

sammyg2 05-01-2008 11:54 AM

What they drive is nickle and dime compared to the rest.
When they fly back and forth to DC, do you think they drive? A couple of trips in a private jet at $4500 an hour adds up, pretty soon you're talknig real money.

I do.

I voted against her husband every election I could, and voted against Doris Matsui when she took Bob's place. He was re-elected, knowing he had a terminal disease and would not survive his term, died a few months after being elected, then his wife stepped in and took over. She was re-elected also, for reasons that are entirely beyond me

Congressional records show that about 125 members of the House make use of the benefit

The total number of representatives is currently fixed at 435
435/125 x 100 = 28.7%
