Website to host photographs

Can anyone recommend a good website to host photographs that I can link to from my own website?

Some properties that I market required 100 or 200 photographs and my site can't handle that many per property. So I'd really like to find a site that I can put 200 photographs onto easily and quickly, then display the photos in an orderly slide show presentation.

I've seen different types of these, but its very important that I'll be able to post a link that goes directly to the specific page for the specific property; I can't mix one property with another. I've seen Wayne post some amazing photos like this and I've wanted to research this for myself.... so this is the start.

thanks in advance!
Cheers,

Can you guys send me a link to one of your pages, either post here or email to: rob@rolyn.biz

I need to check how the link loads and how the slide show is featured.

I'm using this as a programmed feature icon on the public MLS system and we have very strict guidelines to how we link a property to another site. I can't in anyway promote a different property.

Appreciate your help mates!
Cheers,

Paul,
I don't think Photobucket is gonna work? I can't have any banner ads or links showing up when the slide show is opened. fyi.
thanks again though ;)

Just reviewing it now, but I think dats da ticket.
Yudda Best Guy Dave,

So if I imbed a link into my website, it will open up a specific photobook and there will be no banner ads displayed or the like?

Hi Rob,

You should be able to embed the image multiple ways. A number of the images in the "pictures you took" thread are linked from imageshack without advertising.

Thanks Dave,
I've been on there for about 1/2 hour now checking it all out and it's looking very promising!
I'll just register for the $68/yr and start using this in lieu of my 'built-in' piece of crap slide show that comes with my Realtor site.

Hey Super Dave,
I didn't pay anything, sorry. I was going to contribute, but I don't think that site is gonna work for me?

Here's some tests I did:

1: http://img233.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img233/5449/1209852685qcl.smil
2: http://img233.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img233/2784/1209852431n46.smil

My challenges will be:
1. Takes too long to load; even my reduced sized photos would take me hours to load 100 pics for each property?
2. I would like a thumbnail view with an option to slide show, this will only frustrate buyers with how slow it displays the photos.

I'll also have to create an organization filing system, as i've got hundreds of properties to keep organized, fyi.

This is what I got now; the trouble is that I can only load one photo at a time, not too bad though because it loads in split second per photo; but as soon as I get upto 50 photos is loads really slowly. Some of my properties are getting up to over 200 photos now?
My current program: http://www.kentredekop.com/myRealPage/slide_show/slide_show_window3.jsp?ID=1057935
Thanks again,

Thanks Paul,
off to check it out now....
Cheers!

This is a cool slide show...

Now if I can set up individual slide shows that look like this, I'm in!
Checking it out still.....

Change hosting services period. I get 10gb of space and more transfer than I can use for $20/mo at linode.com. Also have full control over everything...

For managing your photos, etc. then you could use dreamweaver (or similar) and just generate photo albums.

Or if you'd like drop me a PM about a databased solution with galleries, etc. and automatic resizing and watermarking of your pix...

Flickr is looking very good!!!!
From surfing your site Paul; first.... way cool, you rock buddy!, I'm pretty sure I can make this work.

Any tips or suggestions?
I'm gonna be posting a ton of photos here!
Cheers and once again thank-you very much, I really appreciate your help.

One thing I notice on your current site is that you are resizing your thumbnails in the HTML code, as opposed to resizing the file itself....

911Rob 05-03-2008 03:25 PM

Hey Steve,
Not sure I follow?
I usually take my photos around the 2MB size, the average day in the field I can take around 800 to 1000 shots. Then I place them into the proper folders as originals. Then I select which ones I'm going to actually use in marketing; say 100 of them. I then email them to myself with MSOutlook using the auto size feature of "Medium". They come back to me instantly and I save them to a reduced file; rename them as a batch and load.

This represents hours and hours of my time; and time is very important to me; so quick wins.

I'm playing with Flickr right now and its looking good for me.
Thanks, sorry I didn't understand your tip?
Cheers,

Hey Paul,
Well I've got a Flickr account and created my first test slide show...

LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/26264742@N06/show

this is gonna work very good.
still playin with it to learn the program, but that took all of 5 minutes.

From what I can see by checking out your site and starting mine,
I load all my pics from the day.
I can access pics later by date.
I can choose to drag/drop pics into a SET and save the set for a slideshow.
I can copy/paste the slide show URL for each individual presentation.
Way coool.

Any tips would be awesome buddy,
Thanks again!

Rob,

I've only been on flickr for a few months but I can't seem to find anything I'd change. Glad I could help.

So when can we come up and see you at the lake? I'll buy the beer!

Paul

Your HTML code says "display this image at 100x70" - which is a good size for a thumbnail. However, the actual thumbnail files are 275x183... so you are sending 11kb of data when 2.8kb will do...

Here's the 2 files - the big one as served up by your host, the small one is what size it displays on your website at... I just cropped out the thumbnail after taking a screen shot.

vs.

http://propertymart.myrealpage.com/i...005512_2by.jpg

I'd say either resize the images to match what your HTML is telling the browser to display, or I'd show the bigger thumbnails... (and then link to larger zoom shots than you are currently showing)

Hey Steve,
Thanks for taking the time to explain buddy, I really do appreciate that!

One of the challenges I have with this "Real Page" website that we are using is the slide show feature. I can only load one picture size into it; if I load any smaller, the photo won't display properly; that site doesn't allow me to post two different sizes. Make sense?

I'm playing with the Flickr and I like it so far; just figuring how to use it with my marketing site now; but I think its gonna work.

You supply the beer Paul, I'll supply the beach. Anytime, cabins opened up now for the season.
Cheers!
