What's the best way to get 8mm analog video to DVD?

We have a quite a few 8mm analog tapes from when our daughter was born. The camera broke years ago... what's the best way to get these converted to DVD?

Send them out.

To do yourself you need to find/borrow another 8mm camera.

Then you need to pass the signal to your PC or better a standalone DVD recorder, they are cheap these days, ~$100 or less.

Then it's all about the time.

It's analog so the least amount of time a tape will take to convert is it's length. Then add in the setup time and other bs, labeling, loading up the disc, etc...

If you have under 10 tapes it may not be worth the expense of buying the DVD recorder.

If you have 20 or more expect to be converting for some time.

Costco does it. This is one thing you let others do. Digitizing every frame is very time consuming for all but the most powerful equipment.
