There was a time in this great country (and others, I'm sure) where criminals had to work with the assumption that, if caught by a citizen in the act, their lives were in grave danger. Same for any man bold enough to be banging another man's wife; the husband was assumed to have every right to kill him. Those were arguably more civil times than we enjoy today. It's refreshing to see the people of Texas still understand that.

This is why i usually knock first. Once they know you're there for lawful purposes, if they shoot you it's murder. ;)

I also wear a shirt with giant yellow letters that reads "RECOVERY AGENT"

(Of course i have a gun too- and a class IIIA vest if i feel especially paranoid about a job. And a bigass flashlight, and pepper spray, etc, etc)
