Autoexec.bat / Config.sys help
I am trying to resurrect an older Compaq Armada (1592DMT) laptop with a scrubbed hard drive for shop/homebrewing use. I plan to install windows 98 on it, but can't get it to boot from the CD drive. The onboard setup does not have an option for boot from CD, and I don't have a bootable floppy that has the information in Config.sys to enable the CD.
Can anyone provide the autoexec.bat and config.sys code to allow access to the CD. The equipment is a Compaq Armada model 1592DMT with a Compaq model UJDA120 cd drive (manufactured by Matsu****a). Thanks, Kevin |
first get a generic cd-rom driver like:
http://www.computerhope.com/download/hardware.htm Then it looks like this: Config.sys device=c:\drivers\cdrom.sys /d:cdrom1 Autoexec.bat mscdex /d:cdrom1 |
Dear lord, now you've gotten me hunting for boot disks......over here under the Amiga perhaps.....?

Hmmm..
If my Compaq isn't Catholic, will the holy water, cross and bible still work? My TI99/4A dosen't need a boot disk, maybe I'll stick with it instead. Thanks for the help, Kevin |
Try BootDisk.com
They'll have every kind of boot disk you could ever need. Basically, just download the one you want, place a floppy disk in the drive and run the executable you just downloaded. Works good, lasts a long time. ;) Randy |
