errrr. joeaska or any other ROLEX guys...help?
ok, oyster perpetual date-date. how the eff do you set the date date portion. i have only one "click" that moves anything. the inner click is the winding part, outer click moves the time. if i go around, i can get the day and date clicking, but i am on the 21th and a friday. i dont want to break the thing.

Interesting... I know nothing of Rolexs however usually clicked all the way down is winding, clicked all the way out is for setting the time, and there is an intermediate click between the two where turning one way sets the day and turning the opposite direction sets the date. On some watches getting to the intermediate click is a little tricky but it is there. You might play with it and see if you can find the elusive inner click (on the watch that is)
Rolex may be different though. |
It depends on how old the watch is. The older ones were called single quick set, the later ones are double quick set, which means both the day and date are adjustable by the stem. Otherwise only the date is quick set and the day of the week requires you to go around and around until you hit the right day.
It sounds like you're pulling the stem out one click too far. If you have a double quick set here is how you set the date and day. Unscrew the stem like you were going to wind it. Pull it out gently to the first click. Do not pull it all the way out. The all the way out position sets the time. It's just past the position where you would have the stem set to wind the watch. You'll feel the click but it is very gentle and easy to miss. Wind it one way and you'll see the date change, wind it the other way and you'll see the day change. If you have a single quick set only the date will change. Then you'll have to pull the stem all the way out and change the time 24 hours until the right day shows up. On a double quick set you don't have to pull it any farther to move the day/date function, you just pull the stem out one click past the wind position and wind one way for day, and reverse it for date. If you turn the stem and the hands wind you've gone one click too far. |
MRM, thanks... you got me thinking. it worked. i have an older single click. i figured it out. i wind the thing up, and the day of the week changes only. then i just got it all synced up and went around and around until the right date appeared. fully blinging now..thankS!
