What free software for the quickest most basic floor plan?
I just don't want to drag out the old drawing board and parallel edge. 3 rooms of showing the walls, dimensions, etc. so I can give it to a kitchen cabinet person. I'd like to go with something they can import.

I use Punch! software Milt; does a great job and user friendly.
It wasn't free though... but you might find a version of it for free? I also have a Better Homes and Garden planning software that does floor plans. Good Luck buddy! |

Google Sketchup....

+1 for Google SketchUp

Sketchup is great for schematics.

WOW! Thanks for Google Sketchup. It seems a lot like SolidWorks which I don't have. How new is this GSU? I paid a guy $125 to do my T IV engine billet taco plate in SW back in the days of the 914 race car. With a little practice, I could have done it. The weirdest thing was when we took SW to various machine shops, they said they didn't work with it. That was another project of mine that didn't fly but the prototype lives on a very fast T IV in GA (Jake Raby)

Another floor planning software - FloorPAD
For floor planning, I recommend FloorPAD. It is very easy to use. You can try it here: Floor plans, house plans, home plans, 3D vizualisations, virtual tours | FloorPAD
