This is Portland, Oregon today. Well, pretty close. I wish spandex could be outlawed, except for attractive female riders.

avoiding heart disease and other chronic illnesses that cost society billions of dollars every year.

Yeah, we wouldn't want people actually exercising regularly, walking and riding a bike instead of driving their hummer to get a quart of milk. Americans have earned the right to drive whatever they damn well please.

hope I don't scrape the MickyD's drive through window with thing thing...

DaveE 05-13-2008 11:38 AM

I love how those on the right are always saying what those on the left want..............

m21sniper 05-13-2008 11:41 AM

You mean the left does any better a job of understanding the right?

What was that about guns and bitterness?

You just don't understand. The burning of unnecessary gasoline adds to the profits of the oil companies, and that's the important thing. The health of the environment and the health of Americans is not the important thing here. Heck, if we had healthier people, then how are the pharmaceutical companies going to make their stockholders wealthy. Your priorities are ALL messed up. Typical leftie.

K. Roman 05-13-2008 12:13 PM

We can all agree riding a bike is healthier, no? No common ground for the sake of staying true to your political stance? (I heard the GOP have a wide one)

...

Flawed logic. All people die, eventually. The longer they live the more health care costs they rack up. Having people die at an earlier age saves the government huge pipes O'cash.

Healthy people stay out of the health care system. Technology keeps those with chronic conditions (some/many self-imposed) living longer and taxing the system.
