Favorite Seasonal Fruit/Vegetable
Tough call for me. Right now, I would have to say cherries, but that is just because they are ripe now and I am getting a few that the birds missed.
Overall, for me it is a toss up between peaches and tomatoes. Figure the fried green tomatoes will be happening in a few weeks, yummy. Home grown tomatoes and peaches are fantastic

I've got a killer blueberry bush in my garden, fruit is ready in about 8 weeks from now. We get just about a gallon off it... Also love summer squash, which is growing in my garden as well.
However here in N Florida, it is just about always season unless it is a cool weather crop, in which case we can grow it from October thru April...

I do like asparagus, but it takes 3 years from seed to dinner table...

Home-grown artichokes. The two bushes each have ten buds on them. We enjoyed the first one a few nights back. Compared to the store-bought 'chokes, the home-grown flesh is both thicker and tastier.
I have to wait until July before our early-bearing tomatoes come ripe. Then, that is my favorite. From July until mid October we are swimming in tomatoes! Troy

Sometime in the late summer (I think) I can get those yellow cherries... can't remember what they are called. They are the BEST.

thanks to airplanes, you can get most anything year 'round now. That being said, I have yet to taste anything as glorious as a nectarine from the farmer's market when they are in season.

Strawberries or blueberries, hard to beat either. I've been picking up a pack of blueberries from costco at least once a week lately. Pancakes, on cereal, smashed with some PB on bread, handful with some almonds ...
Cant wait for the local variety |
