He even gets preferential treatment on the roadways.

Hmm, Yahoo names it the number 1 best place to live.
At the same time, Forbes lists it as on of the Top 10 Most Miserable Places to Live: http://www.forbes.com/2008/01/29/detroit-stockton-flint-biz-cz_kb_0130miserable.html The biggest surprise on our list is Charlotte, N.C., which is ranked ninth. Charlotte has undergone tremendous economic growth the past decade, while the population has soared 32%. But the current picture isn't as bright. Employment growth has not kept up with population growth, meaning unemployment rates are up more than 50% compared with 10 years ago. Charlotte scored in the bottom half of all six categories we examined. It scored the worst on violent crime, ranking 140th. |

Simple explanation. Forbes is aware of where Mule lives. Yahoo is not.

A bit miffed to see than Seattle is only 10 on the list. It is one of the finest cities in the world.
But I am glad to see a Wisconsin city on the list. There are lots of wonderful places to live in this country. Many folks on the coasts write off the middle of the country. Its their loss. We lived in Wauwatosa, WI for 4 years, and it was an excellent place to live.

Spend some rush hour time in Charlotte and get back to me how great it is.
Charlotte seems to be the big "it" city for many or those that live in the Mid Atlantic states (aka rustbelt) and are looking for the promised land. I travel through it at least a few times a year and have an ex employee that My familiy has visitied. The town seems very nice but the traffic can be horrible. They only have a few major arteries in and if there is any accidents, your talking cars parked and not moving for an hour. On top of that, it is just too "new" for my liking. I can only take so many new housing developments and strip malls built within the last 10 years and looking identical. Pittsburgh has its share of rundown neighborhoods and ugly areas. It also has plenty of beautiful parks and culture that only a couple of hundred years of living can develop. I think Pittsburgh fluctuates between "most livable" and "worst" on someones list every years. I don't put much thought in these

I'm surprised it made it as high as #10.
