I have VA and NH CCW's and my AZ one is in the mail. Still, I highly doubt non-CCW states will ever honor any others. Do you really think police states like Kalifornia, NJ, NY, MA, etc. are ever gonna do that? Even if it were a federal law, they'd likely refuse to comply. And the only federal CCW law I ever see coming is one that mandates reciprocity between the states that already have shall-issue laws.

There will be no federal gun control laws in the next decade. None are being seriously contemplated, let alone planned or debated. I like guns but I can't see any rational point to hoarding assault rifles or ammo. Do you think that if the world changes to the point that you can't buy all the ammo you want at the local sporting goods store that your stock of guns and ammo are going to make a bit of difference? You'll have bigger fish to fry if that happens.

I'm hording ammo now because the price of it is starting to track that of gasoline. Online catalogues are raising their prices every day and .223 is getting hard to find no matter what you're willing to pay for it. Besides, why would politicians go through the headache of banning guns, when ammo is just too hard to come by? Seems like a two-fer. I'm picking up 2000 rds. this weekend, but paid for it on Monday, just so they'd hold it for me. It's getting that ridiculous.

Hoarding ammo in the face of price increases makes sense to me. I have an uncle who's a serious posse-type guy that I grew up hanging out with. He was doing the same thing back in the late 70s under Carter. I can still remember him showing me a case of 7 mm Mags that he bought a few years early for a couple of bucks that had more than doubled in the previous two years. He said there was a theory of investing that said buying up tangible things that increase in times of inflation makes the most sense during times of inflation. As I grew up and got degrees in economics, business and law, I began to understand the wisdom of that. It's usually not a good strategy, but every so often the economic environment shifts and you have to respond to the shifts. The economy now is acting a lot like it did in the late 70s with high energy costs, big budget deficits, inflation just over the horizon, and comodoties going out of sight. The cost of durrable stuff is going to increase, so buy it while the price lasts.

I figure if the revolution doesn't come to my neighborhood, I can always have fun at the range once prices settle down. I never buy stuff just for the hell of it. I really can use this stuff too. Too bad that I live the best gun culture state in the country now and it's getting too expensive to shoot more than just enough to keep the chops honed.
