Go Pens!
Great run by the Pittsburgh Penquins to the Stanley Cup finals. Also gives me another chance to show yours truely (circa 1992) hoisting the real Stanley cup!:Dhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1211165887.jpg

Cool photo but I suspect you will hoist the cup if you know someone from Detroit.

I will consider two wins against the West a moral victory. |
As a Flyers fan I am a little bummed today, but congratulations and good luck. I think it would have been a more exciting series had our defensmen been healthy. Keep the Cup in PA.
So does anyone else here just LOATH the Vs's broadcasts of the games. Just awful. I had to watch the games on mute, and listen to the radio they were so bad. The love fest going on for Crosby got really old too. I have never seen so many close up face shots of a hockey player in my life. Nice shot with the Cup. |
You should be able to watch the game live on cbc.ca
They still love Crosby, but there is no real gushing over him. Especially now that Stahl and Malkin regularly play as well or better than him. And congratulations to the Flyers, no one could have predicted they would be this good after last season. |
Sad to say, but hockey has really become a 3rd tier sport. There were plenty of people in Pittsburgh that didn't even get to see some of the games because of the cable plan they where on.:( Crosby is overexposed, but the kid is really, really mature for his age. Always says the right thing. Sure he whines, but show me a 20 year old that doesn't.

3rd tier? Yesterday NBC had poker on in the afternoon, I guarantee you it had better numbers than a hockey game at the same time.
Hockey will sell regionally in the U.S., and anywhere in Canada. Period. And that will never change. |
Well for me it sucked but I am still pleased with the Flyers strides this season. I suspect the Pens will be good for a long time. Hossa is a rent-a-player and most likely wont be on Pitt next season. I agree VS. coverage really blows. I realize that hockey is not a draw on TV but as a guy who played youth hockey growing up and now coaches the number of kids participating these days is fantastic.
Since I am still bitter I'd like to see who ever wins the west take the cup. Nice pic with the Cup there, as a guy whose been playing for 35 plus years I would love to have a shot like that. I have touched the holy grail but never hoisted it. |
I havn't seen a flyers game since they blew a 3-1 lead to the devils in the conference finals in the last year of Lindros' Flyers career.
Restricting hockey to Comcast has killed the flyers in Philly. Anyone with satellite or regular TV doesn't see any games at all. |
I was at that game. 88 got a good taste of why you dont go across the blue line 1 on 2 with your head down. I have comcast and see all the games I want. My family was a season ticket holder from 1968 until 2003. My dad stopped being a 40 game a year guy in the 1980's and by the middle 1990's the tickets were in my name. I gave them up because the new building was not all that great and the ticket prices were a joke. I used to walk about the trading floor with 2 tickets and a parking pass trying to get anyone to buy em for close to face even when they had decent teams.

I've held the cup.
Being a Canadian and growing up in Toronto I would never hold it up over my head unless I played on the winning team. It use to be an unspoken rule when I was growing up. Did you drink out of it? Steve |
Yea In my dreams especially when I was 14 to 16 years old and still believed I had a shot of playing pro

When I worked in downtown, a representative for the team was dating someone at the place. Everyone on the team got it for a day and the office was one of his stops. From what I have heard, hoisting it above your head is minor compared to what some of these players did with their day with the cup. Fortunately someone there had a camera. |
A few years ago at the beginning of the playoffs you could see 3 or 4 games in a single day.
Now so much is on pay, you have to wonder who watches it, and if the broadcasters are making any money from it. Only TSN and CBC showing a limited number of games. I would even watch the games on the French CBC, but sadly they have cut that out so you are forced to watch the Leafs... Good thing they suck it makes it easier not to watch!! I would always stick around to watch an entertaining game when surfing... Hard to find one now. Now I watch my team and when they are out, I am too.... |

Yeah, you should be so lucky that you guys got Hossa now! (coming from a disgruntled Thrashers fan!) Not a huge Pens fan, but I will route for an Eastern Conf team WAY BEFORE a Western Conf team!

GO PENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Pirates, Steelers, Panthers) :D |
3-0 Detriot end of 1st. Looks like it's the Redwings.
Penquins in 6 You heard it here first on Roller Derby. |
Yep, two of the best teams will be going for it, If Detroit gets their star player back they will take it again.
