Perspective on Gun Rights

What a world we are leaving our children. 'Those who hammer their
guns into plows will plow for those who do not.' ~ Thomas Jefferson

FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE

1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.

2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

3. Colt: The original point and click interface.

4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.

5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?

6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.

7. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.

8. If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.

10. The United States Constitution (c)1791. All Rights Reserved.

11. What part of 'shall not be infringed' do you not understand?

12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore
the others.

13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.

14. Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.

15. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.
16. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.

17. 911: Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.

18. Assault is a behavior, not a device.

19. Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer

20. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.

21. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to
control them.

22. You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.

23. Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don't make more.

24. When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.

25. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

IF YOU AGREE, PASS THIS 'REFRESHER' ON TO TEN FREE CITIZENS and join
the NRA!

'Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like
calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'

I just find it interesting that there are technical voting issues all over the US - look at blackbox voting, or the YRO section of slashdot.org. And the last armed revolt in the US happened over voting issues.... (battle of athens, tenn)

Don't forget Oregon's "all mail" voting system...where 35,000 folks were mailed TWO ballots each. Still, our leftie Secretary of State assures us there is "no problem" and that all results are legit.

Keep your powder dry folks...Mule? Good post! And yes, I do happen to be a life member of the NRA...

As am I...and to the naysayers, I can without reservation state that none of my firearms will harm an innocent.

To qualify as an "assault rifle" under today's political terms, a firearm must carry more than 10 rounds in a magazine. So, a question? Is my (8 round capacity) M-1 Garand an "assault rifle"? The guys who carried them ashore on D-day seemed to think so...

There is an old guy who hangs out at the pool hall Cindy & I like to go to. He probably knows more about my M-1 than I. There is a book review in today's paper..."Easy Company Soldier"...written by Don Malarkey with Bob Welch...St. Martin's press $24.95, 277 pages.

I quote from the review: "On D-day, Malarkey jumped out of a plane carrying nearly 200 pounds of gear and landed in the French countryside. For him, that was the start of the war he saw through to the occupation of Germany. Out of 117 men in Easy Company, 35 were killed in action, 61 seriously wounded."

Among other things, these men were fighting to protect our constitution. Luckily, the 2nd amendment is still part of our constitution.

If you value the 2nd amendment, you should join the NRA...

An old friend of mine was in the 101st Airborne and jumped behind Normandy beach during the invasion. He made it until the "bridge too far" three months later when he was wounded and shipped home. He always said that the M1 was his favourite weapon along with the BAR.

Mine is serial #5086552 by International Harvester. I got it through the old DCM program back in the 70's. When it finally came in the mail, I opened the box, noted it's unfired condition, put it back in the box...

Yes & no...I mean, it's not like the M-1 is the only rifle I have...I thought of using a cut down en bloc clip that will hold only 5 rounds for hunting...but man, that rifle is pretty heavy compared to my hunting rifles.

As far as M1's go the higher the SN the better. There were blocks of numbers that were assigned to the different manufactureres. All the SN's above the last assigned block...High 5M's were SPECIAL ORDER M1's built one off by the Springfield Arsenal in MA. They were built primarily as with NM or Trophy rifles.

There are very few of the Type 1 NM rifles built in the mid to late 50's left in orginal configuration. Most have been upgraded to Type II NM, an easy tell is to check the date stamp on the Barrel. The Type II's have 1962 barrel dates.

mines a 1943 Springfield, it has a lock-bar sight and a milled trigger guard. It's a mix-master.

I need 4 more 1 for each of my sons. When they've achieved something great I'll give them their rifle. (as long as I can trust them with it)

Price ranges on M1's ....$600 to $6000

$600 to $1000 buys you a beater

$1200 to $2000 buys you a rebuilt.

$2000 + buys an orginal unmolested

$2500 + buys a special interest, like an early serial

$2800 to $4000 buys a real NM or M1D Sniper

$3500 + buys an M1C Sniper

$5000 + buys an orginal Type 1 NM.

Right now in the market there are a number of CMP M1D Snipers floating around for about $3500 those are good buys and will appreciate.

For example

For example a nice LC Smith "Trap Grade" 12 GA SXS. It has Single trigger, Auto ejectors a factory Hawkins Pad , plain wood and is in 95% condition all circa 1926. The pic below does not show the engraving on the side plate. All for $1400, value is around $2300...pretty rare gun with 3364 made. This is a good investment gun.

Gee, it seems the M-1 Garand I paid $125 for has appreciated in value a wee bit. Cindy picked it up at the post office when it arrived. She blurted: "Oh good, it's the gun Paul has been waiting for." Postal cleak freaked...said nobody can mail a gun. She pointed to the return address..."They can"...
