				VW Jetta TDI--issues, etc.

Anyone own a 03 VW TDI? I am looking at a Jetta with 75K miles. Any negative or positive feedback appreciated. Thanks!

My wife had an '03 VW Golf TDI when we lived in Europe, and loved it. Great mileage, lots of power, and trouble free. The six speed manual transmission was also great - though I'm not sure that made it to the North American Jetta's. One issue: we looked at VW's a couple of years ago again, and noticed a substantial difference in build quality between cars coming from Mexico and those coming from Germany. You could really notice the difference in the VW showroom. The Mexican-built cars looked really cheap and nasty compared to the German-built ones. Not sure this is still the case - but would be worth checking.

that is a great car..and you won't lose any $ if you sell it in a few years...they are bringing close to what they were new here in the North east...

Careful with the Mexican-built VWs. My 1999 Jetta TDI was nothing but trouble. MAF, power windows, interior, glow plugs, starter relays... Troy

I had a 2000 GTI built in Germany, it was by far the worst POS I have ever owned. Buying the german built car is no guarantee.

Here's a good read: Goodbye, you hateful wench My last VW (and I mean my last one, ever) was the worst POS I ever owned. I'd never trust a company that could put something like that together... there was no excuse for how poorly made that car was.
