http://www.mines.edu/Research/PTTC/newsletters/volume%204/v4n2p4.html
ANWAR reserve estimates are in the neighborhood of 16 billion barrels, which would replace the equivalent of what we currently import from Saudi Arabia [about 1.5 Mbpd] for 20 to 30 years Don't see 200 years here. http://www.petrolpump.co.in/energy-sources/natural-gas.htm The major difficulty in the use of natural gas is transportation. Natural gas pipelines are economical, but are impractical across oceans. Many existing pipelines in North America are close to reaching their capacity prompting some politicians in colder climates to speak publicly of potential shortages. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers are also used, but have higher cost and safety problems. In many cases, as with oil fields in Saudi Arabia, the natural gas which is recovered in the course of recovering petroleum cannot be profitably sold, and is simply burned at the oil field (known as flaring). This wasteful practice is now illegal in many countries, especially since it adds greenhouse gas pollution to the atmosphere, and since a profitable method may be found in the future. The gas is instead re-injected back into the ground for possible later recovery, and to assist oil pumping by keeping underground pressures higher. That guy is not telling you the whole story. |

I'm not supporting what he said, but he was referring to Prudhoe Bay, not ANWAR - these are different places, yes?
He did say that nat. gas was being pumped back into the ground. FWIW. |

I didn't have time to watch the whole thing, but there is one thing that seems not well thought out.
He says we could have cheap gas in one year if they would just pump the oil. That drop in gas price would have to be entirely due to speculation on futures, because the Alaska Pipeline can only transport 2 million barrels per day, 10% of our needs. No matter how much oil there is up there, we can't take out more than 2 mb per day, anyway. If he's right, of course, we're still in good shape. It will just take way more than one year to get the infrastructure up to speed. I don't know, all of US needs for 200 years? I'd search the guy's house for a tin foil hat. But I've heard crazier things.

Kindly point to factual statements to discuss.
not these. please "what we pay at the gas pump is a form of taxation that goes to the people who control the world" "when the gas gets to $4 a gallon, our standard of living will be gone" "Bush won't tell the truth becasue he is afraid of being " assassinated "Saddam was too stong for the US" Last edited by stevepaa; 05-19-2008 at 01:41 PM.. |

Is $4 gas affecting you? Why are we not exploiting known reserves? Yes I did.

Seems like he supported it pretty well himself?
Can you answer any of those questions?

Interesting that he never gave the date for the Iranians flooding the market with cheap oil. They would still have to get it to the rest of the world and it might be tough if the US shut down the shipping lanes.

I wish they would. I'd love to see the speculators take it in the ass!

Article from an interview with T.Boone Pickens. If you are unaware of who he is, I'd suggest you google your fingers to the bone before making some wise crack about him not knowing what he's talking about. In just this short interview, some of what Mr. Lindsey is speaking of is substaniated.
