Has anyone ever heard of fuel injectors on Ford trucks sounding like spark knock?

well, all injectors have a 'clicking' type noise, but most people complain about the purge soleniod valve as described as spark knock.

Thanks rattlsnak, I have never heard of this before. I thought they were pulling my leg.

Does the purge solenoid, only make noise under load?

Well, lets start with , what year/engine, aut or man trans,. etc..?

My Toyota FJ injectors are LOUD at idle standing next to the truck you would swear something is wrong.

The truck is a 2007 F150 super crew long bed FX4 with auto trans. It also has the flex fuel capability. The truck does not knock at start up or at idle cold or hot, but does knock after it warms up and under any load.

I tried 93 octane gas and it still knocks. The ford tech said it was the crystals in the injectors expanding that makes the noise.

Loud clicking at idle? My wife's old '03 4Runner V6, which I think has the same 240 HP V6 as the FJ, used to sound the same way. For the longest time I thought it needed a valve adjustment, until I realized they all sound that way.

Well if its direct injected then yeah. New VW's are the worst. They sound like diesels almost.
