The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) still KICKS ASS
I just Tivo recorded and watched Bridge on the River Kwai movie for the first time in 15+ years, and really, it still KICKS ASS for an awesome movie to watch. I'm going to burn the movie to DVD just as a keeper.
If you haven't watched it in years and years like me, really, go out and rent it or buy it, a CLASSIC that holds its own. Awesome plot watching the true actors inner-act, not like the computer animation and dubbing of today. What a loss the movie industry has slumped into.......... Agree and its one of the best.
If you want to watch another classic, try "Casablanca" on a nice television and sound system. Lots of good old movies out there that we forget about.

When watching the Kwai movie many years ago, the host introducing the movie made mention of a remarkable story. After filming the movie, the film reels (the one and only copy) were "lost." They were later (weeks/months) found sitting out on an airport tarmac - having been exposed to the heat - but fortunately were not damaged. I just don't recall if the airport was in Africa, the middle East or elsewhere.

My favorite song to whistle (I'm a whistler, always a tune in my head)) next to the theme from "Andy Griffith". i think I sometimes drive people nuts at work.

Has this been re-done on DVD? This is my favorite movie, we watched it on an old projector in summer camp on rainy nights. The camp owned three movies, Kwai, Blue Beard, and El Cid.

That the Great Escape and the Dirty Dozen all rank as some of the best guy films ever. A few years ago I got The Great Escape on DVD for Xmas and was watching it with the kids, and they thought it was fabulous, it actually had a plot, imagine that!

Netflix has a wealth of old movies...I've been making my wife sit through them with me (she grew up on Japanese pop cinema).
9 times out of 10 she thanks me for making her watch the latest "classic" selection. Why can't they make 'em like that anymore???! Instead we get crap like Rush Hour 3.
