E-Bay and Craigslist should be flush with heavy construction equipment in this market. There is also a "heavy equipment" Bargain Trader sold alongside the Auto Trader at most newsstands.

I found my excavator on machinerytrader.com. Occasionally, you get a nice low hours unit from a private seller. It's a good time to be a buyer. I got my 2005 Kubota with less than 500 hours for less than 50% of new price. The housing market has caused pricing to really tank.
