If A Candidate Said:

My platform is national security through energy independence!

Currently we are at the mercy of dictators and terrorists, all of whom hate us, for energy we cannot live without. My plan is to explore ALL energy sources at our disposal. We will legalize drilling & production in all of the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and Alaska. We will develop coal to oil technology. We will build refineries. We will restart our nuclear program. We will pursue wind and other sources in every applicable situation. With America's citizens and businesses focused on energy independence, we can achieve this in 10 to 20 years. We will rekindle the entrepreneurial and inventive force that America is. We will partner with businesses to develop long term strategies for clean renewable energy for the future. With your help, we can return America's security and economic viability for generations to come.

Would you vote for such a candidate?

widgeon13 05-28-2008 02:01 PM

Got my vote!

Jim Richards 05-28-2008 02:11 PM

What is that candidate's stand on flag burning, ghey marriage, abortion, and the Pledge of Allegiance? What hand-outs can I expect? Will everyone but me get a tax increase? What's happening on American Idol?

Tobra 05-28-2008 02:13 PM

depends on what else they had to say

For example, Mr Obama could say that, but it would not change my mind about him

Of course it wouldn't.

I would probably prefer this candidate prepare this statement more.......carefully. But in general, I understand what you are trying to present and I agree. That is.....this kind of statement from a presidential candidate would be very powerful toward getting my vote. VERY powerful. On a number of levels. If a candidate said this, I would begin to suspect that we have at least one LEADER in the hunt for the White House.

Porsche-O-Phile 05-28-2008 02:28 PM

Depends on his/her other stances on other issues, but it's a damn compelling start. . .

Tobra 05-28-2008 02:29 PM

See, it would not change my mind because I place more importance on what you have done the last 20 years than on what you say to get elected today.

Quite stupid and close minded of me, someday I will see the light, show me the way, oh font of wisdom

Joeaksa 05-28-2008 02:34 PM

Hold on now... doesnt candidate "Red-Beard" of the PPOT have much the same stance? Dammit lets do a write in for him this year!

Jim Richards 05-28-2008 03:00 PM

Rammstein's getting my vote.

teenerted1 05-28-2008 03:15 PM

no way would they get my vote....there is no way they could make all those promises and keep them.

Mule 05-28-2008 03:27 PM

You are aware that we went to the moon right? We did that almost 40 yrs ago with the computing power of your average calculator.

red-beard 05-28-2008 03:38 PM

No, I'm the one who said that! Vote Red-beard, 2016!

Superman 05-28-2008 03:45 PM

There is no question in my mind, none whatsoever, that we can become energy independent. Sure, it will take some time. It will come in pieces. But just the fact that we're deadly serious.......will have international ramifications. And economic ramifications. We will prosper, even as we try. And when we are successful, I think we can all agree we'll have something with market value.
