Sydney Pollack RIP
I just read that he died on Monday. Great Director, Three Days of the Condor, They Shoot Horses Don't they? and Tootsie to name a few. Did some work in front of the camera as well.

He only found out about the cancer nine months ago. Yikes!
I just mixed the commentary for Made of Honor today - his last role as an actor. Horrible, predictable flick. Thankfully, we have a lot of great films to remember him by. |

I flew him for years. Even tho he was a pilot, and enjoyed riding in the back. Was in Kenya and South Africa with him all thru OoA.
He later got his own Citation X and flew himself right up to the end. Was a genuine delight to have onboard, and always included the entire crew in any of his shoots with 'all access passes' and invites to the crew and cast sneaks. He will be missed. |

Last time I saw him was on Entourage last season as the guys tried to hitch a ride on his private plane to Cannes. He did some good films...one of my favourites was "3 Days of the Condor" with Robert Redford. Later as a producer, he produced most of Anthony Mignellas works, and he tragically passed away recently as well. Pollack was interested in telling stories with his films, and looking into the human psyche rather than blowing stuff up with effects. He was also a spokesman of sorts for the 70s film generation...

Yeah, it's a big loss. I loved him as an actor, he was great in last year's "Michael Clayton". A natural.
