Can't open the drivers door on a Toyota mini truck. Can you help?

I can unlock the door but pulling on the handle doesn't do anything. Pulling the panel off is next to impossible since I can't get the door open and the seat is in the way. I'm about to call a locksmith but was wondering if anyone has used a Slim Jim or coat hanger and can give advice. The truck's not mine but I promised the owner I'd fix this problem in exchance for loaning me the truck. TIA.

roll the window down and use a wedge to make a gap so you can see down inside the door (be carefull you don't break the glass), depending what year there should be 2 actuating rods which attatch to the latch mechanism, if the latch is frozen then spray some PB blaster in there and keep trying, if the plastic clips which hold the rods have broken then you may be able to get something in there to activate the latch lever......

a good locksmith may be your best bet if though as it's a pia....
