Does anyone fall for these scams anymore?

Greetings.

Greetings to you and your family in the name of God,in my search for a reliable and God fearing person and having gotten your contact through prayers via searching i made on the internet on my sick bed. Presently, I'm in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment for Oesophagi Cancer. I have since then lost my ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have limited time to stay here on earth.

Though its a sad and long story but I will cut it short for your quick and easy understanding. I am Mary A.Gannes (Mrs), widow to Late Mr.Nelson H.Gannes, former chairman of an Oil servicing Company in Dubai from 2001 till 2005 when he died of an auto accident. It all happened on the 13th day of June 2005 when my late husband was travelling for a board meeting scheduled with his board of directors in Bihab here in Dubai when he had a fatal accident on his way to the meeting. We were married but without any child. And since his death I decided not to remarry and presently I am 59 Years old. Before his death he made a vow to use part of his wealth for the down trodden, orphanages and the less privileged in the society. Having known my condition I decided to do nate this fund to an individual or better still a God fearing person who will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct here in.

I want an individual that will use this fund and provide succor to poor and indigent persons, orphanages, and widows and for the propagating peace. Then the fund in question is $20.3 Million Dollars was deposited safety in the financial instiution by my late husband.Presently this money is still with the instiution and the management just wrote me as the beneficiary to come forward to receive the money or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody that can receive it on my behalf if I cannot come over. I am presently in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment of Oesophagi Cancer. I want a person that is trustworthy that will utilize this money to poor and indigent persons, orphanages, and widows.

As soon as you assured me that your willingness to assist me out in this transaction, i will kindly send you all the evdience and proves concerning the existence of the fund in the Financial institution.I took this decision because I do not have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not inclined in helping poor people and it will not please God if my husband's hard earned money is misused or spent in the manner in which my late husband did not specify,or been used in an ungodly ways.

Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated here in and Keep this contact confidential till such a time this money get to your custody. This is to ensure that nothing jeopardizes my last wish on Earth. What is required of you is your honesty, trust and sincerity.

Any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing for another individual for this same purpose.

May God Almighty bless you.

Mary A.Gannes (Mrs)

So how do these things work, I presume if you take the bait they then ask for your bank info so they can deposit the funds in your account?

And then the fun begins?

They try to get you to turn loose with some money in exchange for their making you a millionaire. We all know whats going to happen, the train wreck is in progress and there will be only one loser in this but unfortunately some people still do it from time to time...

If one idiot out of 100,000,000 responds, it's worth it for the spammers.

And the ratio of idiots to the rest of us is a lot higher than 1:100,000,000. No doubt about that.

Duly noted. I plan on turning the entire country into something that will rival Dubai.

There were two recent news stories here in SoFLA where an attorney and a college professor both were scammed by the Nigerians. The college professor got his tit in a wringer as he actually started helping them perpetuate the scam (and he still didn't realize it was a scam).
