My new (to me) track toy!

Not the Porsche, but the Corvette! 92, LT1, six-speed. I'm pretty excited, and I'm now half way to my dream car stable (Miata, Corvette, need to add an Elise and a 911).

Rob

So you're a gay guido who wears gold chains who's short and rich?

Sorry, couldn't resist. :) Congrats on the purchase - sounds like a lotta' fun.

masraum 05-31-2008 06:20 PM

Don't forget that he's also a hair-dresser and has a small pee-pee.

Every one knows that miata drivers are hairdressers (or network engineers), and corvette drivers have small pee pees.

Sheesh!

:D

So what do women Corvette drivers "have"?

Geez you guys. Have some heart. The guy just got a new track machine. I think an older, new generation Vette would make a nice track car. A hell of a lot less expensive to run than a Porsche....

And more to the point, ALL sports cars are will get you labeled as having a little pecker. :)

I kind of like having two cars with such conflicting stereotypes. Maybe once I add the 911, people can think I'm a p r i c k too :)

Hey, Zoo. Welcome aboard and congrats on the new track monster. Hang out here a while and once you get over the initiation ritual, it's generally a petty fun place to be. You just need to make sure you have an Obama sticker on your Vette or the critics here won't let up on you.

I'm Canadian. Obama's too conservative for me :)

The only sticker going on it will be a Grassroots Motorsports decal.

I love the PPOT -- it's fun even without a Porsche.

"What's the difference between a 911 owner and a porcupine?"

"Porcupines have their pricks on the outside".

This is all just good-natured hazing/ribbing. Well, at least speaking for myself. It's got to be exciting to have that 'vette as a track toy. Probably gobs of fun. Hmmm. . . I wonder if the gas price problem will lead to a bunch of (relatively) inexpensive ones coming onto the market soon. That would be kinda' fun.

I'd have to polish up my gold chains though. And find where that bottle of Brut-33 has been hiding all these years. . . ;)

That's the only way I've taken it. Trust me, I've driven and raced a Miata for six years. One develops a pretty thick skin when it comes to stereotypes . . .

MRM 06-01-2008 09:31 AM

Brut? No way. I gots me a case of Hi Karate I'm going to break out.

9dreizig 06-01-2008 09:35 AM

So you're gay, have a Miata, a left wing canuck, and working on being a prick ??
WELCOME!!!!

You're only half right. Okay, maybe three-quarters.

9dreizig 06-01-2008 12:22 PM

Just remember to be obnoxious when expressing your views and you'll fit right in!

Nice car ZOOMiata,

You have good taste in cars. I used to track a 'Vette, and a Miata as well.

C4 'Vettes are really nice track cars. Below is a photo of the '94 LT1 I owned. With a set of '89 Z51 springs, shocks, sways, and ZR1 front brakes, it was quite a fun car.

Here's your dream garage, owned sequentially. (Psst... the 'Vette was the quickest.)

so if you played baseball you'd be a homer and a triple away from the cycle?

End of the year reflections, and I thought I’d pull up one of the earliest threads I started here. This is a good one, indeed.

And an update, the C4 was a great track car, until i spun a bearing. LT1s are kind of the orphan V8. Replaced it with an E36 M3, then an Elise (barf), then an E46 M3. This year I went M2, but looked long and hard at Caymans. An air-cooled 911 seems out of the realm of possibility now.

unclebilly 12-25-2018 05:23 AM

What didn’t you like about the Elise?

Everything was too fragile. And although I loved the colour (Krypton) it attracted attention everywhere. I was exhausted by it, and I am a social person by default. Everyone always wanted to touch it, sit in it, and such. And because it was so fragile it caused me stress every time someone slammed the door, or reefed on the windshield to try and get out.
