I didn't let it monkey with my original photo's directory so I'm still good there. Actually I believe iPhoto is a mini database application and duplicates all the pictures in it's library folder. True I should have not expected so much from iPhoto...I remember the first time I pointed iTunes to my music folder it moved and renamed thousand mp3 files to a "other" folder named trackWXYZ.mp3  After the fact I found and untoggled the "Let iTunes F***-up your existing music collection". Again I had it all backed up to DVD but still...

All that said I'm still keeping OS X at home. Hopefully once I get past these windows migration issues the software will start to make sense ;)

Ok so I have my email open via a web browser. I want to email a picture in my iPhoto library. How is that done exactly? Seriously.

Select the photo, then click on the little email icon in the lower right corner, as below.

It'll then ask you some questions about size/quality, and then open up your email program and let you fill in the rest.

Or, you can just drag and drop the photo into your email, but expect it to be somewhat large/etc.

I use Apple's Mail.app to do this, which is the "preferred" way, IMO. iPhoto is integrated nicely into Mail.

AFAIK, from a web based email client you need to export (you can specify size and quality this way) or drag the photo you want out of iPhoto, then attach.

FWIW.

Wups... seems like my reading comprehension was a little off.

I had outlook exchange open in Safari. Dragging and dropping onto an open email response from iPhoto just reloads Safari with the picture. I'm used to just attaching a picture living in a folder someplace but there are no *folders/pictures* in iPhoto... So am I forced to use Apple's mail?

DOH! I just got what you said Kurt. I dragged the photo to the desktop then I can attach it. Got it.
