Gassy's been dry for a month today
So a month ago I wrote about thinking of getting pro help, well I did. I checked in to an IOP --intensive out patient program. It's 6 weeks long, 4 days a week from 6--to 9:30. I have 9 sessions left. On weekends I go to AA meetings which I don't really dig yet but I gotta go they say. Anyway, my point is that I feel great and haven't had any cravings yet...I know it's super early in all of this but the cliche of One day at a time is helping. I've learned to love Tonic water and lime:rolleyes:...a few of you have PM'ed me in the last month and I'd like to thank you for your support.
Christian. |
Just don't drink today, don't worry about tomorrow.. Good Job!
|
Way to go!
One day at a time. Be strong. |
Stay strong - you got friends here thinking of you and some even pray from time to time!
|
Christian,
Excellent news! I'll continue to pray for you, you're making the right change and you're up to the challenge!! |
Congrats dude!
Now if I could just get my $hit together :( Been feeling a little funky and doing a two bottle of wine a night habit. I tried AA also and it isn't working for me, however I never hesitate to recommend it because it is free and it DOES work for thousands of people. Just got over a breakup and feeling a little down but starting to date a new lady next week, perhaps that will improve my mood. Hang in there Christian! |
Cool, more for me ;)
j/k If you really want to stop and need to stop I think you'll make it, keep up the good work. If you don't mind I'll say a little prayer asking to give you strength in the fight. |
We started a group for people who were not comfortable with AA, its call "Friends of Matt Talbot"
If you get a chance search on line and read his story.. |
Excellent, congrats on the dry month!
|
Quitter;). Congrats man! Obviously you made the right choice for yourself, something very difficult to do. Stay strong.

Congrats!!!! Have you noticed any physical changes or changes in your energy, etc.?
That's great, man. |
Nice work. Mind over body!
|
Yeah, I don't look like ***** anymore and my energy level is amazing. I'm actually happy about some things now and that's been a long time coming. Getting up much earlier and enjoying the mornings.

today is a good day

Congrats! Keep it going and good luck!
My brother is a recovering alcoholic. He was stuck on brandy which, from what I've heard, is one the worst addictions. He's been dry for 6 years now. He still can't quit smoking, but I'm grateful he got rid of one vice anyway. |
and by not smelling like a brewery in bed ,
it has improved your.. luck,performance,sleep,dreams... happy for you, Rika |
Good going!
Wish I could quit. I'm afraid it's going to take something bad happening for me to stop. My father never quit and died at 42. I turned 41 today :( |
Congratulations Christian! IMO, quitting is the easy part...it's the not starting back part that's a real b***ch, whenever "that" point comes :). Good luck and keep on doing what you're doing!!!
