Lieberman, my new favorite

Now I hope McCain has a good spot for Lieberman in DC, not VP but something good. Tell it like it is Joe.

Jim Richards 06-06-2008 08:08 AM

Except for IRAQ/IRAN issues, he's a Dem. Is that what you like about him?

I used to be OK with him too. This "cap & trade" bill has changed everything. Have you looked at this?

BeyGon 06-06-2008 08:19 AM

Obama got a little testy with him about their views on Isreal.

Jim Richards 06-06-2008 08:27 AM

I think Joe wants to be Olmert's replacement. ;)

mikester 06-06-2008 08:29 AM

Joe is an interesting fellow these last 10 years...

...would you have expected these last few years from him as Al's VP?

Tobra 06-06-2008 09:48 AM

Overall, I like Mr Lieberman. He says a lot of stuff I don't agree with, but he is pretty moderate for the most part. The cap and charade thing is no good, for example

Shaun @ Tru6 06-06-2008 09:57 AM

He's Israel's poodle and will allow them to dictate our foreign policy in the Middle East more than they already do if Sec State in a McCain admin. Joementum. Not.

he's also ultra liberal. My grandfather, Democrat for 65 years in CT, hates him.

You will too once you know who he really is. It was awfully nice of him to whisper in McBush's ear that Iranians are Shiite, not Sunni, so I guess he's good for John to have around. But then I guess anyone running for President wouldn't know Sunni vs. Shiite. They're all the same, right?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

He reminds me of a bleating goat. The man is _not_ a liberal, he's actually completely out of touch with his constituency and will be booted from office in the next election.

After all the isht he's talking around DC, he'll be lucky if the Dems allow him to keep his parking spot.

I am begining to like him more and more.

Shaun @ Tru6 06-06-2008 10:28 AM

Source 2006 NYT:

Senator Lieberman has consistently received 90 to 100 percent ratings for his Senate votes over the years by national liberal groups like the Americans for Democratic Action, the League of Conservation Voters, Naral and many others.

The Right likes him because he's for the War. Sean Hannity's personal poodle. There's a reason we through him out of the Democratic Party. He votes Left but cozies up to the Right to get air time.

HUH?!

Didn't he run as an Independent last election because he lost the Dem primary, and then beat the Dem candidate?

So...how would the Dems have any say again...?

MichiganMat 06-06-2008 11:36 AM

From here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Lieberman

In the 110th Congress, Lieberman is Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which is responsible for assuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the Federal Government. In addition, he is a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee; Senate Armed Services Committee, where he is Chairman of the Subcommittee on Air Land Forces and sits on the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities; and the Small Business Committee.

It's your ball.

Shaun @ Tru6 06-06-2008 05:47 PM

oh my! how embarrassing!:o:o:o:o:o

clearly only one year of Catholic School was not enough!

RoninLB 06-06-2008 06:33 PM

Lieberman represents the center left of Dem politics.

He may be one of the last few standing if the far left has critical mass and sweeps the election?

RoninLB 06-06-2008 07:02 PM

naturally any "real" Dems in this election cycle don't like him.

If anyone wants to know what's happening with those center Dems watch his policies.

His main burden to national politics, besides his far left war, seems to be that he's Jewish? I would meet people while hanging out in forests during my big rides in the 1970s who really thought Jews had horns... and every Italian was connected to the mob... go figure.

Tobra 06-06-2008 10:25 PM

You threw him out of the party Shaun. Dean gave me a bit of a chuckle with his last post.

Hey, wasn't that Hartford CT where the guy got hit by a car, then was laying in the street unconscious and people just looked at him, and walked on by
