Out with the old...

Rollerblades, that is...

The above are about 15 years old and have served me well. I "customized" them so that they could run 80mm wheels, but no larger. The padding finally wore too thin and both my ankles have been in pain.

In with the new...

I had been thinking of getting a pair that had 100mm wheels, but I decided that they may be too fast. I settled on the 2008 Speedmachine 6.0 Rollerblades, with 90mm wheels. With a carbonfiber and kevlar shell, I feel confident that my feet will survive any bullets fired at them.

Old and new...

I tried them out this evening and even though I was a bit unsteady, I managed to knock a minute off my time. I have a consistent 20 minute, 5 mile loop. It took me 19 minutes today and I was not pushing at 100%.

Looks like I may have to go 10 miles a day.

i'll snap a pic later of my old bauers.....haven't used them in years, and when i did it was destructive, which is why they're priced at $5 for my moving sale :D

How old were the bearings in the old wheels, I bet they have a lot of resistance and might have slowed you down a bit.

100 mm, couldn't you bet some with 20"'s, in case you had to go through the hood?

The bearings were new and I have a habit of actually cleaning the bearings and rotating the wheels.
