How to safely remove paint from mahogany? (guitar related)

I got a Gibson Faded SG today for $400. Pretty awesome score with a hard case as well. The guitar sounds great, especially clean.

At some point, the guitar was painted white with a grey sealer underneath. The neck was sanded down to the wood and it feels very nice. I was curious if anyone had any suggestions for a solvent or a stripper that might make the job a bit easier. I have no idea what kind of paint it is, but a little bit of carb cleaner did a good job of removing the paint down to the sealer. (Didnt want to go any further)

Any tips?

Here's a pic of the back of the neck

good luck. probably a typical furniture paint stripper will work once you remove all the hardware?

Try more carb cleaner? you could also try a solvent called goof off, it only removes water based paint.
Some paint stripers remove water based, some remove oil based, some remove both.
If you are lucky the original finish is in oil. If that is the case, using goof off will only remove the water based top coat.

I have used StripEez to remove clear lacquer from a 30-year-old Zildjian cymbal without damaging the cymbal, so that me the approach you want to take. Check with a local furniture refinisher to see if they can recommend a chemical stripper...
