Gas price rising-
By the biggest margin in history, the price of gasoline and diesel fuel has risen in the past year.
And what has dubya done about it? Nothing! That's right... NOTHING! Did I expect him to do anything? Of course not. This man, who is barely capable of keeping a Ford F150 on the road, much less properly manage the local Taco Bell, certainly cannot see how he is being operated like a puppet to prop up oil company profits. I mean....who else would sit there while their approval ratings TANKED and then...do NOTHING about it? The long and short about this guy? He simply [B]doesn't care![/B It is pretty obvious to me that the main reason that gasoline prices have nearly doubled in one years' time is that it is likely that the biggest "cash cow" that the oil industry and all of its speculators have ever had is dubya bush. They aren't going to let him leave power without getting the best price for their products that they can. They know that a Democratic administration might do what a former Republican president did: Institute price controls. Since dumbya is obviously a worthless pile of duck-flesh...and as such has soured the apathetic American public angainst republicans....they've unleashed the speculators to raise the price of fuel while they can still get away with it. They know that next year President Obama is going to kick their asses on the issue of global warming, so Cheney and his reprehensible hench-men have given tacit approval to the oil companies to charge what they want. And since "men" such as dubya and Dick "Shotgun" Cheney have given them this approval...they've seen no reason to not take advantage of the situation. Are you sure you want four more years of this by voting for McCain? What about $8 per gallon? N Last edited by Normy; 06-08-2008 at 10:46 PM.. |

George Bush, February 28th:
Wait, what did you just say? You're predicting $4 a gallon gasoline?" "That's interesting"....."I hadn't heard that ... I know it's high now." Cocus Suckerous Maximus.

Were you expecting Bush to wave a wand and cut the price in half? Please tell me why you think he has the power to suspend the law of supply and demand. I'd like to hear this. I'm also curious as to how any kind of retaliation against oil companies is supposed to make gas cheaper. Please do tell.

I can't imagine what it must feel like to have voted for this ass monkey, especially if you are a genuine conservative. The bible thumpers are accountable to no one, their looneys. But to be truely commited to conservative ideals, and see what this monster has done.....
Tough to stomach that Bill Clinton, the conservatives anti-Christ, really was a better conservative than W by a mile, innit?

I'm going to cash in the G35 (17 mpg avg) for an VW or Audi 4 cylinder turbo this month. I'm ready to pay $5-6 per gallon all summer.
How much does the gallon cost before the SUV market dies? How long?

He should work the demand side of the equation. How about encouraging people to actually drive smaller more efficient vehicles? What say those that buy a car with average mpg of over 35 get a tax incentive?

You "Neo-cons" don't believe that it is possible for the government to actually do something right. I don't blame you, but this is one instance where it would work. -I'm not running for president, but I probably should. I'd straighten out the place...before I resigned in disgust! N! |

Imagine having actually believed all of the lies and cooked intel that painted Iraq as a grave threat to U.S. security after 9/11, and then trusted the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld machine to invade the country and handle it like pros w/ our tax dollars and young people in uniform. Imagine believing that their lazze-faire approach to nearly every problem and policy issue, including diplomacy and the U.S. economy would even preserve the way of life we had, (much less improve it). The private contractor war staffed by employees of big campaign contributors, the failures in every possible area of security, (borders, terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and abroad, etc.). Then imagine having to try to defend the coksucker on internet boards and around the water cooler. I can't imagine. ![]()

I have him in a tie with LBJ for worst in my lifetime. They had a lot in common. Hard Drive is right, by any critical analysis Bush is far less conservative than Clinton was. The Bush terms have been an utter failure and an international embarrassment. It's possible that we will pay for the Republican failure by electing a socialist.

Most on the right aren't defending Bush anymore. Instead, they've shifted to electing McCain. McCain voted with Bush 89% of the time. So with McCain, you get most of the Bush policies that you know and love, but without the embarassment of the man himself.

If only we could harness the power of stupid within this thread
![]() The fact is, with a Dem House and Senate and either Obama or McCain in the White House you guys will be getting what you want. We'll see how that works out for us.

Measured by effect I agree, measured by intention...not so much. Clinton would have been a much different animal given a cooperative House/Senate. But in the end results are what matter so I agree.

I voted for Bush, but I agree with others in that he has not been a great president. On the other hand, do you even understand price controls? You think given price controls on domestic producers that middle east oil producers are going to go along with that, or just sell their oil to places willing to pay the higher prices like China and India? Price controls were instituted on domestic oil suppliers in 1973-74. This led to less domestic oil production and more dependence on foreign oil.
