How did you choose your kids names?

Having always been interested in WW1 and WW2 aircraft, this was how my first Daughter got her name: "Allison" And yes she knows it because she has the poster in her room:

Daughter is named after her great grandmother (my grandma julia) and her middle name is the traditional puerto rican "marie" (the wife is from PR)

Son Andrew we just liked the name, but as it turns out, is is his great grandfathers (the wife's grandfather) name.

Funny thing about it is when we were discussing names, each was mentioned once and they just stuck...

I was thinking of allowing Wayne to name our first child, in exchange for some serious discounts on parts.

I named my son. My wife named our daughters.

My son Justin is named after my best friend.

My daughters are Anna and Brynn. Not sure how my wife decided on those names, but they fit.

I don't have any, but if I ever do, it will be two adopted boys and I will name them Mick and Keith.

My son was born on the same day of the year as my grandfather and my wife's father. First name from one, middle name from the other.

Funny...I named my daughter, my wife named our son:cool:

Arden was named after my mother. Jackson (Jack) was named in honor of his really cool great-grandfather. The nice thing is that the two Jacks got to know each other really well.

Your kid will have a tough life with the name "Pelican"...

When I was a kid, I used to play basketball with a kid named Blake Neyland (related to the General Neyland of Tennessee football fame). I always liked the name "Blake" and so my son's name is Blake.

My daughter's name came from - believe it or not - Briley Parkway in Nashville, TN. The name "Briley" seemed a little too weird, so we picked "Riley" instead. Riley's middle name is "Alyssa" which is Greek (my wife's mom is Greek) for "rational" (my wife picked out her middle name).

We're having our first child any day now. We've used names of people in our families and circle of close friends to pick names.

My favorite so far would have been Björn Justin (as in born just in time for the Euro 2008 soccer cup) but we missed that window of opportunity. With me being Swedish and my wife American that name had a lot going for it - I don't understand why my wife didn't agree? :)

And old one...

"Daddy, how did we get our names?" asked the little native Indian boy of him and his siblings.

"Well", said Chief Running Horse, "Your sister was born next to a small river, and that's how she became known as "Running Brook"...and your brother was conceived during the migration of the deer, hence "Jumping Deer"...now, why do you ask this question, Two Dogs F*&king?"...

Daughter is named after a close friend.

Son is named after John Coltrane.

My wife and I elected not to know the sex of our child before birth so we did the search through the book of names and came up with a few nominees for each sex. After he was born we took a few days trying them on before deciding. I remember the hospital wasn't too excited about us leaving without choosing a name first.

That sort of happened to a guy I used to know. His mom couldn't decide on his name before they left the hospital, but the hospital demanded a name on the birth certificate, so he is officially known as "Number 3" as he was the third child. True story.

That's funny...when I read it, my first thought was "that beats being the middle child" :)
