This board and Slodave rock.

My brother and I grew up falling in love with 911's.

I got mine 5 years ago.

Found it in FL and sent my brother to check it out. Bought it and he drove it up to NY for me.

He has been going nuts lately looking for his own.

Well Tuesday he found a candidate, made a deal, booked a flight to LA and did not sleep a wink since.

I reached out to the board for someone who could pick him up at LAX. Both Todd and Dave stepped up.

Dave got him from LAX this morning and took him to the car and spent the whole day helping him.

I understand Dave got all dirty crawling in, around and under the car.

So Dave thanks for everything. It meant a lot for my brother and myself to have someone there with him to share the experience.

Now go get a Mac;)

Obligatory pics. First things on the to do list when he gets back to FL is lowering, wheels and the squeaky brakes.

What year 964?

Very nice. I've got a car cover gratis if he doesn't have one.:)

sorry I couldn't help out, but when Dave chimed in I figured I'd let him have at it as I had a few fires pop up at work.

And now my Audi is sick, but that's another thread...

You know for a guy who's signature reads "Will work for Porsche parts" he's always chipping in and being a good ole boy. He should change his signature to read "Will work for TIPS".

Scott, you and your brother are very welcome. I was nervous about not having a front license plate and getting a ticket at LAX. I hear they are pretty good about enforcement. I don't have a way to attach it to the front anymore, so I figured I'd use a couple of strong hard drive magnets. I never gave it much thought, but at 11:30 last night, I gathered up the magnets and 'stuck' them to the plate. Well, the plate ain't steel. LAX had the police check point set up this morning and I thought I as going to be pulled over.... Whew.

On a side note, LAX has a gigantic carbon footprint!

Here's Ray as he's about to start the long, but hopefully fun journey home.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1213405248.jpg

Dave's a great guy.....unless you're trying to hang with him up on Mulholland! I about got sideways at uh...er....a BIT over the posted speed trying to keep up with him on a run last year. Oh, and the road is about ten feet wide in places up there.

Congrats and enjoy your new car!

Yea! Kudos to Dave! Dave is a great guy, as you and your brother found out. We're lucky to have him out here with us.

Nice car, btw.

Slodave is a computer wiz, too. My laptop thanks him, because without him, it would probably be at the bottom of the pool right now.

Nice move Dave! Cool thing to do.
Nice car too!

speeder 06-13-2008 06:30 PM

That should be a fun drive home! I love road trips, either solo or with a partner. Perfect time of year, great car, what's not to like? Did the car check-out as represented?

I wanted to "step up" as well, but I had oral surgery scheduled for yesterday and knew that I would be laid-up today. (And I am). Glad that Dave was there to represent.

Seahawk,

Yeah that'd be cool.. Thx.

Denis,

Not quite but still acceptable. Brakes squeal, fixable, bit of overspray in back but no apparent body damage, they told him it had no leaks but cmon, it is a Porsche. I spent 4k getting my motor dry, that only lasted 2 years.

He had looked at the same car in FL. Jose of Turbowerks (Juan Ruiz's wrench) is a friend of his. Jose's brother had the car and it needed stuff. He could have gotten that one for $5k less but even if he bought it and spent $5k it would not have been as nice as this one.

Great looking ride!

You rock, slodave.

m21sniper 06-13-2008 10:58 PM

That's one of the purtiest VW Bugs i've ever seen. (giggling as i type this)

Good on you for helping out Dave!

livi 06-13-2008 11:38 PM

Great guys and a great car! Yet another going for a 964. I need to get one myself real soon.

SXSMAN 06-14-2008 02:47 AM
