I wanted to follow this year, unfortunately I do not have the right package on my Direct TV to see the matches.

I honestly do not have time to follow, I am barely able to keep up with F1 and usually end up watching it on Tivo later that night.

I tried watching the last World Cup, no dice. Watching players flop around like epileptic tunas and being carted off on stretchers only to return moments later killed any chance the sport had with me.

Good post!

Otherwise, surprisingly many responses so far. I would have thought most Americans were not even sure what this 'football/soccer' game is. Well, perhaps besides a certain recent immigrant and his former spice girl wife..

Livi,

You know you Swedes don't have a chance on tomorrow's match, don't you?

Anywat, both Spain and Sweden should advance into the next phase, so you do not have to play against us again until the final match

Paco,

Que fantasia! Esta sonando!

But seriously, I believe you are right. The Spanish team is far better than the Swedish. I just hope it will not turn out too embarrassing on our part.

Yes, hopefully we are both on our way to the quarter finals.

I'd be following the Euro2008 games more if either of my teams was playing

Go Houston Dynamo!
Go St Pauli!

European Championship = World Cup without Brazil and Argentina. Of course there's interest!

Epileptic tunas? Great. I can't watch it either. It looks like herd animals.

No, that would be your American football.

If a guy leaves the (American) football field on a stretcher you can rest assured he ain't coming back in the game.

Soccer is boring to watch on TV for me, fun to play though, or see in person

You are right. The opposite is unfortunately true about European football. Some of the players could probably successfully audition for Fellini.
